| It is so hard to rank movies. So I decided to just talk about the must see movies, and rank them all by categories. Actually, to be honest they are gonna be in no real order. Won't this be fun? Comedies: 1. The Naked Gun- The Funniest Movie I have ever seen. The way Leslie Neilson can pull of such ridiculous lines off in such a straight, matter of fact manner is beyond me. Every time I see the movie I pick up more and more that I didn't in the past. 2. Office Space- Hilarious? Oh yes. "It's not that I'm lazy...it's that I just don't care."--- What high school student can't relate to Peter Gibbons. 3. Caddyshack- Bill Murry, Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield...three of the funniest guys on the planet...one movie. Anything else? 4. Bruce Campbell vs. The Army of Darkness- Tough decision on the category, but truth be known it is sooo funny with some of movie histories best punch lines. 5. Snatch- All the colliding stories with an amazing cast, and funny underworld villains. It is hilarious from beginning to end. 6. Airplane- Leslie Neilson again 7. Robin Hood Men in Tights- "Yo yo yo. check it out" 8. Swingers- This movie is so money and you don't even know it. Well, maybe you know it. I mean it starts out in Vegas baby, Vegas. Vince Vaughn's funniest movie...and I did love Old School. 9. Stg Bilko 10. Animal House 11. Old School 12. Anchorman Action/Adventure 1. LOTR- Ok this is three movies, but one story, and originally written as one book. Great views, amazing effects, great action sequences, likeable characters. The movie is a winner. 2. The Empire Strikes Back- My favorite Star Wars movie. The Luke/Vader showdown is epic. Yoda is one of my all time favorite characters, and the Cloud City is great. Awesome movie. 3. Pirates of the Caribbean- It's fun until the end. Jack Sparrow is the most entertaining Pirate in movie history(though I must say Dustin Hoffman as Hook was so close). "Now Bring me that horizon, and really bad eggs...Drink up me arties...Yo ho." 4. Raiders of the Lost Ark- Just think about the scene with the dude with the really big sword doing all the fancy stuff. Now just picture Indy shooting him...Now ask yourself even if the movie contained just that scene could I keep it off the list? 5. The Matrix- The original was unbelievable. 6. Pulp Fiction- Somewhere between a comedy and an action movie. It was such a fun movie. 7. Fight Club- I am jack's ___...fill in the blank. What a great movie. Drama 1. Good Will Hunting- It's funny, it's touching, it's entertaining. 2. Hoosiers- It's basketball, and it's a great story. 3. October Sky 4. Apollo 13- Maybe it is my fascination with the universe and the space program that makes me love this film so much. The story is inspiring watching Americans work together to bring our Astronauts home from near disaster. 5. The Usual Suspects- I fought on putting this film in action, adventure or Drama. This is a brilliant tale through the eyes of Verbal Kint of the events leading up to the massacre in the harbor. The film uses its characters brilliantly to show the fear everyone has of one mysterious street criminal...Keyser Soze. The film has maybe the best ending in movie history. My All Time Favorite Movie: Dr Strangelove, or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb- I love social commentary, and I enjoy dark humor. This movie was about as dark as one could get. All of the characters are hilarious, and the movie is about the best social commentary on Nuclear War we have ever had. |
