Species Summary

Females of this species tend to have brownish color, or a paler blue color to upperside of wings. Underside of males wings is silvery white or grey, while the female is generally brown on undersides.

Eggs are commonly laid in clover flowers (Trifolium monanthum, T. longipes, and T. wormskioldii)

Larva are greenish or reddish and overwinters before pupating.

Adults tend to stick near wet areas like bogs and marshes, ranging to grassy fields and roadside ditches for locating larval foodplants.

May be found in most of northwestern USA into southern Canada. Generally north of S. Dakota and Nebraska, but farher south (into northern New Mexico) west of Colorado.

Nectaring plants include asters, bistort, clover, and a few others. Favors white european clover.
