| Catochrysops panormus exiguus
(Silver Forget-me-not) |
The
species occurs rather rarely in Singapore, but has been observed both at
the coastal areas like Khatib Bongsu and Pulau Ubin, as well as in the
nature reserves of the Central Catchment areas.
The Silver Forget-me-not, and its lookalike Catochrysops strabo strabo, are a pale clear blue above in the male and black dusted in the female. It has a pair of long white-tipped tails. An orange crowned black spot is found in space 2 of the undersides of the hindwings.
The species can be found flying around low-growing flowering shrubs in waste places and forest clearings. It feeds on leguminous plants and is associated with ants. |
