Cyanerpes caeruleus, or Yellow-legged Honeycreeper

The Yellow-legged Honeycreepers, or Cyanerpes caeruleus are one of the most commonly kept nectivores in our aviaries. Several males can be safely housed together provided there are no hens present. They can also be safely housed with other birds.

Males 'creepers can be aggressive when breeding and a close eye should be kept on the pair to make sure both birds are in the same breeding condition.

These birds are always moving around their cage and sample new foods readily. Their diet contains lots of soft fruits, soaked pellets and nectar. This diet makes it is necessary to clean their cage frequently.

They are not shy birds and interact very well with their fortunate owner. Their wonderful color and bold personalities ensure they are firm favorites with everyone.
