"The smiling girl, when will I free her?"
some news from the dba newsletter:
"An idea was put to dba an dtox to release a CD with dba's 12" mixes, which have so far been released on 12" and the odd CD. It has been decided to release such a CD within the next few month and this will also see some unreleased tacks too. Fans of Howard Jones will remember the 12" Album where the tracks mix into each other, and this release will be similar to this where each track will blend and mix into the next. Wicked stuff to look forward to there!!"
the remix album is out now.
dba's album Bubble was the first electronic CD i ever bought. i still remember the day I bought it, bringing it home and telling my mom how much i liked this band. i put it in the living room stereo system and played it. not ten seconds into the song, my mom didn't like it. i knew i had to find more music like this to annoy my family (and later, friends) with.
since the time i first heard Bubble, i had looked forward to another release from dba. finally, last year (2001), they released a new album, Spectrum. dba's style didn't change too much since the last album, but the programming (the synths, drum beats, etc) have improved, i think.
Robbie and Shaz, the current members of dba, started out in a band called 65dBA, in the UK. 65dBA released two albums, The Great Awakening and Circle, in 1993 and 1994 respectively. at some point in the mid-90s, i suppose the band dissolved. however, Robbie and Shaz continued working together under the name of dba, and released the debut album Bubble in 1996. they also worked on a side project called Hydro, which seems to be more of Robbie's project than Shaz'.
(does not include singles, vinyl, or compilation appearances. yet.)
65dBA:
