| The Required sonnet has consumed my whole mind-- annoyance, frustration from first to last line. The structure of sonnets will drive me to drink-- Pen clenched in my teeth, bleeding red ink. Iambic pentameter, be damned, I Howl! More poetry discarded-paper befouled. Subjective themes elusive, no two words rhyme, akward utterances so awful they blind. Like a mouth with teeth sublimely monstrous, I pull decaying thoughts from my subconscious. Stab words onto the page- force them to behave, and watch them die wiggling, penned in pure rage. Fear to Enlightenment: the pen a mighty sword! I inscribe my sanity onto a black board. |
