POSSESSED BY THE PAST full-length comedy-drama 2M 1F (may be expanded as two actors play multiple roles) World Premiere by the Lander University Theatre, Greenwood, SC starring veteran TV, film, and stage actor Grainger Hines. This is a play about the life and times of the man novelist Henry Miller called, "the last Southern Gentleman", and his lifelong obsession with his ancestral plantation home, "The Shadows". The man was Weeks Hall. To his friends he was a cultured and witty conversationalist, a bon vivant, a raconteur, an artist with great talent, and also an artist with a jigger of absinthe. He lived as a hermit in his evocative ancestral home and to the people of the small Louisiana town which surrounded the house, he was a crazy man and a drunkard. PHOTOS |

BEAUTIFUL OASIS has revelations of Neo-Nazi nuns, chocolate bars, wickedly deceptive shower faucets, Vaudeville, and a door in the desert on the other side of which is a BEAUTIFUL OASIS: destination or destiny? |

THE QUARTER-STEP WALTZ full-length comedy with music 5M 5F various extras You've eaten their food and heard their music, now's the time find out a little bit more about south Louisiana's Cajuns in a rollicking play with music (no singing actors, just a small Cajun Band). A funeral brings a son home to south Louisiana in search of his roots only to find that they were inside his own head all along in the form of a magical Cajun Band that every Cajun has, whether he knows it or not. This is a family comedy with music, dancing, steaming bowls of gumbo, a festival, voodoo, and a loony uncle living up in a 200 year old live oak tree. This play is about the lost generation of whatever ethnicity who are seeking to discover, or recover, the deep comfort of their collective past. Laissez les bon ton rouler---! (let the good times roll!) |
