Day 1 Lake Tekapo
The Invasion of the South Island Begins at Lake Tekapo
Sorting out the gear and marking out the area for were things were to be, finding water lines for the showers, and places for the generators, Places to camp in before the riders arrive on site. Now when all the work was done we gave the the new guys a run done. The main one is , Every new site there has to be a trip to the local bakery. (sort of a ritual to bless the new site). The other is... What happens on campsite ... stays on campsite. One new member of the team that I will never forget was Brett, A guy from South Afirca. He became a good drinking buddy of mine on the trip, And he was one hard worker as well. Never said no and always leanding a hand.
Day 2 Glentanner
View to Glentanner (Mt Cook in distance)
At Glentanner we were given the user of one of the locals farm. Power was limited to Generators and water was carted in by tanker trucks and filled into bartlets (giant plastic water baloons). Bit of a tight squeeze and ensuring that there were no accidents with the Trucks and Riders. There were offers on scenic chopper flight and a bus to town as well. Weather was also fantastic was a great time to catch up on that tan.
