Geocities to close web hosting business on October 26, 2009.

April 28, 2009

Big News! Last week Yahoo announced that they will be closing the Geocities webhosting later this year.

I was in the middle of changing the web pages (100+ of them) on this site. Now, I need to decide whether or not to continue it elsewhere or at all.

More news to come as I consider my options.

Welcome Homestead Webmasters!

This is an unofficial website for an alternate source of information and help with using Homestead's SiteBuilder Classic. There are tips and tutorials for using SiteBuilder and tips from other present and former members of Homestead. There is also a directory of useful webmaster resources. For those of you interested in using JavaScript, DHTML, or Java Applets, there are selected, usable demos of those scripts and applets that will work with SiteBuilder, although sometimes with a workaround solution. With applets in particular and because I may like an applet so much, I show you how to put it on a non-SiteBuilder-built page. The instructions in this web site assumes you have already opened and played with the elements in SiteBuilder to make at least one page.

Most of the pages on this website are created with Microsoft FrontPage 2000 or Namo Web Editor 5. However, everything has been tested with a SiteBuilder page either previously or with my current Charter account at Homestead.

If you're here from doing a search on Google or other search engines and are not a member of Homestead but looking for help on using a JavaScript or Java applet, you may find some information here that may help you. I always note the source of a script or applet so you can go to that page or website to grab whatever you need or to find more specific information that may be related to what you're looking for. I'm always happy to help all of my visitors when I can.

Finally, above all, have fun building your website!

~ Janet
