Godzilla vs. Megalon
Story
An old race, called the Seatopians, are getting disgusted that the world is using too many nuclear weapons. Soon, the humans go to far, and the Seatopians release Megalon on the world to destroy it. (Why? They were the ones wanting peace.) Meanwhile, a new robot has been created, called Jet Jaguar. The Japanese are able to control it for some time, until it stops listening and goes out on its own, hopefully for the better. Jet Jaguar goes to Monster Island to fetch Godzilla to help him fight Megalon. Godzilla agrees and makes his way into the ocean towards Japan. Jet Jaguar and Megalon duke it out before Godzilla comes and it seems Jet Jaguar has the upper hand, so the Seatopians ask for the Space Nebulans help. The SNs send Gigan to aid Megalon. Jet Jaguar is then on the verge of defeat from the hands, or should I say claws, of Gigan and Megalon. However, Godzilla shows up and he, with Jet Jaguar's help, defeats Megalon and Gigan. Japan is saved, for now.
Monsters: Godzilla, Gigan, Megalon, Jet Jaguar, Angurius
My Opinion
Godzilla vs. Megalon, even though one of the most popular of the series, is also one of the worst. The special effects have gotten horrible, and Megalon's lightning bolt is all stock footage of King Ghidorah's gravity beams. Gigan looks like a rag doll, and Jet Jaguar is just another look alike of Ultraman. Even Godzilla doesn't save the show, with his "kiddie" face, and foolish moves. It is very embarassing for any fan to endure this film. However, even with all those bad points, it is a fun film to watch if you're in fear of doubt. The soundtrack is "so-so" and to top it all off, Godzilla vs. Megalon has appeared on Mystery Science Theater 3000, with only one other G-Film, Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster. Unless you are a die hard Godzilla fan, I think you'll just get a laugh out of this film.
