Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla |
Story |
An ancient prophecy in Okinawa predicts that a monster will come to destroy the world, and two kaiju will come to save the world. The prophecy seems to come true as Godzilla appears from a volcano! However, it doesn't emit Godzilla's regular roar, and its identity is soon revealed as Angurius battles the fake Godzilla and Space Titanium metal is exposed. Angurius, in one last act, calls out to Godzilla for him to come. Then, Mechagodzilla tears Angurius' jaw apart and shoves him in a ditch, with only very minor injuries. This "Godzilla" goes on a rampage until the real Godzilla shows up and exposes all of the fake Godzilla, which is given the name Mechagodzilla. Mechagodzilla proves to be much stronger then his counterpart and throws Godzilla into the sea. MG is then brought back to a base underground, a base run by the simeons, a race from the third planet from the sun that studied Godzilla for years. After hard work they came up with Mechagodzilla, a fierce beast. King Seesar arrives, via help of the Okinawa tribe. Mechagodzilla and the giant lion battle, however, Mg once again proves to be a worthy foe. Godzilla arrives and together with King Seeser, they finally destroy the almost invincible robot. |
My Opinion |
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla proves to be one of the best 70's Godzilla films. It had finally put the series on track. However, the showa seriues couldn't stop its doom the following year. Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla is the first Godzilla movie since Son Of Godzilla to feature no stock footage, another step towards the film's success. Gvs.Mg did very well at the box office, and pleased many fans. There are alot of nice effect shots here, especially Mg's constant missile blast. King Seeser is a nice monster, even though its only special weapon is to reflect lazers. Angurius made an appearence here, with the only reason was too get Godzilla to fight Mechagodzilla. The score is very impressive, especially "Mechagodzilla vs. Angurius." I seriously recommend this to anyone. |
