Son of Godzilla
Story
An UN team is sent to an island to study weather-control experiments. However, a mistake develops and radiation flows through the island. Kamacurus and Kumunga are formed, two huge monsters. Meanwhile, an egg is found but is being tossed all over by the Kamacurus. The egg hatches and out comes Minya, Godzilla's son. Godzilla arrives and chases off the Kamacurus and then teaches Minya how to be a type of "Godzilla." However, Kumunga is awakes and wrecks havoc on the UN team. Minya helps them but is too defeated. Kumunga then starts to devour a Kamacurus. It finishes that meal and heads for Minya, tangled in Kumunga's string shot. Godzilla comes just in time and battles Kumunga. Kumunga almost wins until Minya breaks free and helps his father destroy the mutant spider. The UN team leaves as snow starts to fall. Minya and Godzilla hibernate until the ice melts.
My Opinion
Though Son of Godzilla features a new turn in the Godzilla series, it's not very good. Minya is not a good creation. Godzilla's suit looks horrible, and Godzilla takes a turn to the good side. The movie is alot like 1933's "Son of Kong", just replacing the dinosaurs with mutated insects. Kumunga is one cool foe though, which almost successfully beat Godzilla until Minya aided Godzilla. Personaly, I liked Gino better. Unless you are a hardcore Godzilla fan, get this movie. If you are anything less, don't bother.

SFX Director changes
This is Toho's first Kaiju film to not have Eiji Tsuburaya as director of special effects. Sadly, Tsuburaya would pass away a few years after SOG's release.
Monsters: Godzilla, Minya, Kamacurus, Kumunga
