Rarewhere Roundtable #3

30 Sept 2002

The following Roundtable occasionaly travels of course (take a look at mine for example), but it's an interesting read nonetheless. Take it with a pinch of salt, and nothing else...

"
What is your main reason for buying Starfox Adventures?"

Tim
When i posed this question to the crew, i was not in the mood at all to answer it myself. And still now, i'm bitter. I dont exactly know who im bitter towards, but i don't really care. I'm just angry.

However, StarFox Adventures is the last ray of sunshine for GameCube owners. And with that, comes my anticipation for the title. The beautiful scenary, awesome characters, great gameplay. I have pure, raw emotion for this game, and it alll amounts due to the events of the last month. I'm sure a tear will trickle down my cheek when the final cutscene rolls, when it all sinks in. Im determined to get the most from Starfox Adventures. It has all the qualities of a great game...With the Starfox franchise mixed in, Miyamoto's insight into the title, plus Rare's awesome development skills, im sure it will be my favourite game of all time. Im just hoping, now, that it will never end.....and im dreading the final boss....will i break down in tears? Probably......will my whole gaming life flash before my eyes, full well knowing that this is where the best times end, with Rare's departure? Probably....thankyou Rare....thankyou, for making me short life worth living....and Starfox Adventures is the icing on the cake.

That is a good question...why am I buying StarFox Adventures? I guess the answer is because two of the greatest developers ever (Nintendo and Rare) collaborated on making one of the biggest epic adventures ever! The combination of Zelda style gameplay, item collecting, classic flying and everything about SFA just makes the right combination. StarFox Adventures really brings out the graphical capabilities of the GameCube and I can't wait to see some of the effects. Overall StarFox Adventures just looks like a gigantic and extremely fun title. Since it will be Rare's last GameCube title I am picking it up and I'm going to enjoy it!

Starfox Adventures, the last game before Rare departs to Microsoft. SFA is a history making game and it is also a much-anticipated game. I want SFA for loads of reasons. This game looks HUGE, and that's a relief after short games such as Nintendo's internally developed Luigi's Mansion. Not only does this game look like it is a lengthy adventure it also looks like one of the best graphical games I have seen In a LONG time. Fox McCLouds beautifully animated fur just draws me closer and closer to this astounding game. This game should satiate the Nintendo fans hunger for yet another stylish Rare game, the last Rare game.

Demir
It's made by Rare. Plain simple and straight to the point, not only that, but it seems as if it this game is going to be Rare's last exclusive GameCube game.

I was one of the many people who never believed these rumours, frankly I thought of them as pure breed horse shit, but now, things have changed, fears have been realized, yet in a good light. Nintendo could afford to still have Rare developing for them, yet what good would it be? Sure Rare do make some great games im not debating that, nor will I ever, but how long do we seem to have to wait for these games, im an impatient gamer and I will be the first to get SFA as it ensures to captivate me, just like any good Rare game. (Except for Banjo Tooie, for some reason I didn't like that game)

Rare. Simple as that. I have owned every Rare game except for ones prior to the N64 and Mickey Adventure Speedway USA.. Every game has been absolutely fantastic in every way. Star Fox has been in development for over 4 years so it would be stupid not to buy it, if we were basing it on reputation. Beautiful visuals, great sound, Zelda-like gameplay, items to collect, sweet martial arts moves...Star Fox looks to have it all. Can't wait!

However, I'm a tad worried about game length, IGN says 20+ hours, which isn't too good. But, no matter what happens, as Rare's last GCN game I am bound to get it. Thanks for the memories Rare. Much appreciated.

And with that, we end this Roundtable. We love you all, peace out.
We will never, ever see Kiddy again...sad, isnt it...:(
