Before They Were Flatts
Before Jay was a Flatt, he was in a pop christian group called East to West with college roomate Neal Coomer. He was also the leader of Chely Wright's band. Jay also did come producing for Michael English, and won a dove award for some of that work. (A dove award is the christian equivilant of a grammy.) Gary also sang backup on the Same Michael English album Jay produced. Jay played bass in Michael's band and Gary sang backup while Michael was on tour. Neal has also been a busy boy... but doing what you ask?
Gary and Jay had a band called Deuces Wild
They played on Tuesdays at
The Fiddle And Steel Guitar Bar

From 8pm-close

Gary Vernon and Jay DeMarcus are cousins born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. As Children, every Friday night Jay and Gary stayed with their grandparents where they learned to sing and play Country and Bluegrass music. Jay got a record deal while at Lee College in Cleveland, TN. It was a Christian Contemporary Group called East to West. Gary was in Ohio singing with a group called Perfect Harmony.

After years of being apart the two have finally combined their talents to create one of Nashville's freshest sounds. Jay and Gary are currently working on a record deal. They have recently signed a production deal with Blake Mevis Music and will be produced by Recording Artist Mila Mason. These two have worked with some of today's biggest stars such as Wade Hayes, Chely Wright, Mila Mason, Clint Daniels, and Michael English. Look for our compilation CD coming soon.

Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney met while both were in Chely Wright's band. Jay was the keyboardist and band leader and Joe Don was the guitarist. Jay asked Joe Don to fill in one night when the guitarist in the band, he started with cousin Gary, didn't show up. This became Rascal Flatts.
Durring Joe Don's first week in Nashville he played on the
Grand Ol' Opry.
