Jay studied the guy for a long time. “This is the musician I want,” he said at last. Gary looked surprised. “Really? He asked. “You like this guy, huh? It says here he’s from Oklahoma.”

“Yeah,” said Jay. “He’s perfect. I can teach him how to flirt with the ladies and be as adorable as I am. I’ll teach him to do all sorts of things!”

Gary seemed relieved. “Let’s find the salesclerk.”

Gary looked around for the guy with purple hair. He finally found him. The clerk came over and took the Oklahoman and but him in their car so they could take him home. Then the clerk got a bag of Oklahoman food and suggested  a pillow that would make him happy.

“Nice guitarist,” said the clerk to Jay. “What are you going to name him?”

Jay looked at the Oklahoman with the headphones turned all the way up.

“Joe Don,” he said.

“Joe Don?” asked the Clerk. “Are you sure? Sounds like a Texan.”

“I know,” said Jay. “It’s just, I’ve had that name picked out for months.”

Gary looked up from the check he was writing. He was quiet for a few moments, then he said, “I don’t get it, Jay. Are you sure you want this Oklahoman, or…”

Jay looked at the Oklahoman with the headphones turned all the way up. Then he looked at the floppy haired Texan in the front window.

“you get it, Gary,” he said.
“I just want Joe Don.

And now I’ve got him.”

And that is how Joe Don REALLY became a member of Rascal Flatts!
