Somebody Else G. Stolyarov II A Journal for Western Man-- Issue XXX-- January 20, 2005 |
I favor Reason as my guide, All future matters to decide. Somebody takes offense; in him, Reason’s been sacrificed to whim.
I do not think that one can win Debates on angels on a pin. Somebody else is bound to state That I against his faith spread hate.
When I in laissez-faire profess To let each what he earned possess, Some petty soul will slander me, Contending I spread anarchy.
When I claim merit to embrace, Judge a man’s deeds and not his race, Somebody else this view offends, On race-based favors who depends.
When I say, “To each man his own,” The feminists will surely moan. Somebody else will cry foul play. Words, “man,” and “his” how dare I say?
When I assert that a man’s mind Genes and society can’t bind, That man’s will is forever free, Some lazy lout will scowl at me.
When I forth my opinion give Of right ways and wrong ways to live, Licentious addicts like that not. I should
be taken out and shot! Whenever I say truths, then these Are bound somebody to displease. To silence one who’d rather speak Means tyranny on all to wreak.
