About Rats
Rats are very social creatures and need companionship with their human owner as well as another rat. They can be a great joy to have as long as you know how to care for them.

First of all you need to know that you should NEVER use pine or cedar bedding for your rat. This can cause major problems and may also lead to death. A good type of bedding is aspen pellets, recycled paper, or recycled wood pulp (with out cedar or pine) You will need to clean your rats cage once or twice a week to keep the little guy/girl happy. Rats are very clean animals, spending 1/3 of their life cleaning, and like their cage to be just as clean.
You can feed your rat lab blocks or a mix of lab blocks and some hamster food (gives them some varity and seeds) And you should provide clean food each day. You should also provide fresh water each day.
