"I have such sights to show you..."

  • 2005

The 2005 theme was "Dead Pirate Party," and the costumes were great! We had pirates and wenches everywhere! I learned in 2005 that no matter where I am, one of the few constants in my life is my love of Halloween. And 2006 is not going to be any different! The tradition survives - again, with a little help from my friends. We'll be rockin' on with Karaoke, KOC, Shadowplay...and my annual house party!

The 2004 theme was "Devil's Night," and the costumes were great! Everyone looked deliciously evil in their devilish garb. I carried over the Devil's Night theme for my own Shadowplay costume, as well (just a little more makeup). Incidentally, 2004 was also the final party at the old apartment. I have moved since then, but don't worry...we'll be back for more in 2005! Tradition is important to me. What started on the 100th anniversary of the publication of Dracula (1997 party, planned since the early 90s) shall not end. I swear it on my black little Halloween-loving heart. :)

The theme for 2003 was..."El Dia De Los Muertos." I spent lots of time picking up as many skull and skeleton decorations as I could get my hands on, since the theme was the Mexican Day of the Dead. Many of the costumes were related to this theme, and I gave out cheesy prizes (everything from fibre-optic skull flashlights to skull shot glasses!) and candy-filled skulls. Craig's "Six Shots Under" drink was killer! (it tasted like death and knocked you on your ass) The candy necklaces were also fun...

The theme for 2002 was..."Screen Screams." Everyone dressed as something from a (horror) movie. My costume was a Hellraiser cenobite. For my costume, I wore the same leather corset I'm wearing on the invitation page. I did this stupid thing with chains though, so I'm not sure how that will look in the pictures (not developed yet). And in case you were wondering...my hair is FINALLY back to normal after the 2001 bleaching fiasco. All grown out and dyed black again. :-)

The theme for 2001 was..."Rock Star." Everyone dressed as a rock star. Yours truly dressed as The Vampire Lestat of the glam band of the same name. I bleached my hair (I'll never do that again!) to the point where it was like straw, and it took me almost a year to get it back to normal. We had alot of other cool rock stars, and even a "manager." I got pics of mostly everybody - except Rick, who dressed as Rob Zombie. Trust me...his costume KICKED ASS! Funny thing...the pics didn't come out and when I looked at the negatives, they were blank. Running joke is that it's proof Rick really is a vampire...

We again out-did ourselves in 2000, and there are some great pics on the way, including the party and other Halloween events. The costumes were absolutely fabulous, and we all had a fun time drinking, chatting, watching short films, etc. We also played Nightmare, a video board game that is only fun when you have had copious amounts of alcohol and pixie stixx (as we did). I also saved the archive of the invitation .

  • 1999

1999 was the best party yet. There was no RPG that night, but just about everyone showed up in a costume and had a hell of a time drinking, listening to music, chatting, etc. We polished off the night by watching Rocky Horror Picture Show ("Let's do the Time Warp!!!"). An hour after everyone had cleared out and we cleaned up, it was like that hour never passed (we set the clocks back an hour before going to bed). Anyway, there are enough 1999 pics to warrant their own page.

  • 1998

In 1998, I was living at my current residence. We had another game of Vampire: The Masquerade. I did not take any pictures of the costumes at the party since I was so busy running the game of Vampire, but there is a pic of me in my Zombie costume (I guess I got into the Worcestershire sauce). There is also a pic of the excellent Jack O'Lantern Chris carved to look just like The Dark Master (bator) in Bram Stoker's Dracula.

  • 1997

In 1997, I was living in university residence. My first annual Halloween party was in celebration of what I like to call "The Year of the Bat," or the 100th anniversary of the publication of Dracula. We played a game of "Mind's Eye Theatre" (live-action Vampire: The Masquerade). The only scanned picture I can currently find is one of Chris and Nicole. Chris played Vlad Tepes (Dracula) in disguise as a priest named Dominion Black. I will have to scan some more pics...
