“I’ll see you later, Lex.”

“Sure, Clark.” Lex flashed his easy smile as the pretty teen climbed into his pick-up truck

Clark gave a forced quick smile, and then ducked his head as he got into the truck, hiding the grimace the smile became. With a rumble, he started the truck, and drove down the extremely long driveway.

As soon as the castle was out of view, Clark sighed. He pulled the truck over by the side of the road, and slumped down into his seat. It was a Sunday afternoon, and there was no one to be seen in either direction.

Normally, he would’ve gone to the loft to think, but this time, he needed someplace neutral. Somewhere quiet and secluded. And strangely enough, the road running through Smallville was exactly that.

He didn’t mean to be maudlin, not really. But he just couldn’t help it. Every time he saw Lex, things looked just a little better, somehow. And for a while, Clark was happy. And he thought Lex enjoyed his company, so it was all good. But afterwards, when they were apart, the world came crashing down, and he started to question himself. What if this wasn’t just a friendship? Was it his imagination, or had Lex checked him out?

That was what he was doing now. Asking all these questions that would occupy him for hours, and yet never, ever be answered.

He tilted his head back and stared at the entirely unremarkable ceiling of the truck. A deep breath of air whooshed out of his throat, and he reached to turn on the truck. Time to go. His dad still didn’t like Lex, and was expecting him home. Somehow, he didn’t think that the excuse ‘I was wondering if I’m gay and if I’m in love with Lex’ would fly.

***

Clark checked the house using x-ray vision. It was kind of pointless, because he already knew that both his parents were in town, but it couldn’t hurt. Besides, he was nervous. If someone walked in on what he was about to do...

He didn’t spend a lot of time on the computer at home. School papers, mostly. But school was anything but what he had in mind now.

It wasn’t hard to disable the internet security system. Pathetic, really, because his parents really hadn’t known what they were doing when they’d set it up. And they didn’t really expect him to go looking for porn over the internet. Sometimes Clark wondered if they’d forgotten that he was still a fifteen-year old boy, with all the hormones to go along with it.

He typed in ‘gay chat rooms’. It was as good a place as any to start, and he didn’t really expect to get many results.

So he was pretty surprised to get 191,000 sites. He stared intensely at the screen, and debated checking for his parents again, or just abandoning this little exploration altogether. His eyes darted nervously from side to side.

/Calm down, you idiot. They’re gone. You’re fine. Besides, you need to get this figured out before you go insane. / He took a deep breath, and then chose a site at random.

His username popped up in the sidebar. *alienboy13 has joined the chat*

Immediately, he started typing.

An hour later, Clark logged off just as confused as he had started. The people there had mostly been really helpful, but one in particular. Alexbbs2 had seemed to understand a lot of what Clark was going through. And the only reason Clark was logging off at all was because Alexbbs2 had had to leave himself.

Clark was becoming more and more certain that he was gay, or at least bi. But he really wasn’t sure what to do with that. So, what if he was gay? What would he do? Being open-minded and willing to accept new possibilities was all well and good, but he wouldn’t ever be able to come out in Smallville. There was just no question. At least, not until right before he was ready to leave. He didn’t think he could possibly live with the humiliation and discrimination he’d have to deal with if he came out as gay to the community.

For one thing, he’d be shunned, and for another...well, for another, Lex would certainly find out, and Clark didn’t want his best friend deserting him for something like that. It wasn’t like he didn’t want to be honest with Lex; it was just that it was one of those things where he had to keep the truth from Lex in order to protect him. If Lex knew that Clark jacked off while thinking about him naked, he’d probably run for the hills, and so to protect him, Clark could never let him find out. It was like the alien thing. Another thing that would send Lex running. And thus, another thing that Clark couldn’t let him find out. The secrets he had were piling up like snow in Kansas winter, and Clark was pretty sure he was about to go insane.

He went upstairs and flopped down on his too-small bed. He didn’t even have to strain to hear the sound of his father’s truck about three miles down the road. Maybe it was good that he’d gotten off the internet, then. But he’d set up an IM date with Alexbbs2 for next Wednesday at ten. His parents would be asleep by then, and if he was quiet, he could sneak downstairs without waking them up. Fortunately, he didn’t need as much sleep as the average teenager, only five or six hours. So he’d be free to talk to Alexbbs2 as long as he wanted.

The lazy afternoon sun shone in, warming him gently, the rays dancing delicately in through the curtains. He sighed and waited for his dad to get home.

Lex was puzzled. Today was produce delivery day, and instead of Clark coming, Jonathan had delivered the veggies instead. Today was the one day when they usually had an uninterrupted time to talk; Jonathan couldn’t very well stop Clark from doing his job.

A small part of him was nagging that Clark was avoiding him. He hadn’t seen the boy all week, and when he called, he was always told that Clark wasn’t at home. He tried to push away the doubt, but he couldn’t help it. He was a Luthor, and suspicious by nature. But he worried that he was crossing the line of suspicious and into paranoid.

He blinked once and realized that he’d been staring out the window instead of doing his work. He cursed softly. It seemed like every five seconds that he had to pull his wandering mind back to his work. If he didn’t get this done and turned in to his father by tomorrow, there would be hell to pay. And if he didn’t get it done by ten tonight, he was going to have to stand up that guy that he’d met in the chat room.

He got up and poured himself a drink. Maybe not the best way to stay focused, but it gave his hands something mindless to do, and his brain a menial task to accomplish. Clark hadn’t come. Clark had abandoned him. Clark was avoiding him. Clark was just using him.

His thoughts whirled out of control, and he downed his drink quickly. No use thinking about it. His father’s words ran through his head. You’re ruled by your emotions, Lex. You always have been. His face hardened into its practiced mask with ease, but it did nothing to appease the upheaval within.

He sat down resolutely in front of his laptop.

“Yes, I did all my chores, Dad. Do you really even have to ask?” Clark felt like rolling his eyes, but knew that the sign of disrespect would not be tolerated by the elder Kent.

“All right, son. I was just making sure. Wouldn’t do to have the new cows starve.” Jonathan clapped his strong hand on his son’s back and smiled warmly. Clark gave a forced grin. He was sitting hunched over at the counter, waiting for his parents to go to bed. It was only eight, but with nothing else to do, his mind was already two hours into the future, when he could meet up with Alex.

His chores and homework had been completed hours ago, and he’d even stopped by the Talon to talk to Lana. But he didn’t stay long. After talking to Lana, he realized that the inner radiance he’d seen was gone, or maybe never had been there. He didn’t go weak in the knees anymore around her. And her wit didn’t seem so scintillating, her voice so smooth and rich. He didn’t get tongue tied around her anymore, and actually found himself bored while listening to her go on about something one of her cheerleader friends had said. Somehow jolted back to reality after his insanely intense crush, he’d realized that she wasn’t even that interesting.

After his revelation, he’d left as quickly as possible, made up some sort of lame story about needing to help Pete with his homework. He and Pete only shared bio, anyways.

After school, he’d asked his dad to do Lex’s delivery. His dad had smiled knowingly at him and agreed easily. It made Clark sick that his dad took such joy in what he thought to be the end of their friendship. The real reason he hadn’t wanted to see Lex was because he didn’t think he could handle these crazy, weird feelings again. Not when he was in such close contact with him, talking to him. He was also worried that he’d end up doing something stupid. What if he tried to ’accidentally’ brush Lex’s hand with his, and Lex called him on it? What would he think? Would he ask that Clark stop making his deliveries? Would he stop wanting to see Clark? Clark didn’t think he could take the rejection, so he just stayed away, and hoped that Lex was too busy to notice.

At nine, his father went to bed. Such was the life of a farmer. Clark knew his dad would be up at four-thirty in the morning, feeding the animals before the sun was even up. When he’d lost his powers to Eric, he’d discovered exactly how hard it was to do farm work without his powers. And his father did it on a regular basis, twelve hours a day.

“Good night, son. Don’t stay up too late.” Jonathan offered the age-old wisdom of parents everywhere, even knowing that his son only needed about six hours of sleep anyways.

“All right, Dad.” Clark had started watching some game show on TV. He still wasn’t clear on the rules, but he thought that it had something to do with answering questions and then gaining points towards the bonus round, which he had yet to see.

Despite himself, he gave a big yawn. He’d better stop watching before he fell asleep. It wouldn’t do to miss out talking to Alex, as he’d said his name was.

They’d had so much in common. Alex was actually bi, not gay, but he’d gone through a lot of the same things Clark had. He’d said that when he was in high school, he’d gotten a crush on an older guy. He’d been scared and worried that he wasn’t normal, but he’d eventually realized that it was who he was. His advice to Clark had been simple and redundant, but it made sense and gave him something to think about. If people in your hometown can’t accept you, then you can always move to the city, get a job as a male stripper at a gay bar, and then when you come back home, you can bring outlandish and outrageous boyfriends that nobody will approve of. The thought of it still made him laugh. Alex had made quite an impression on him, from the very beginning.

Finally, it was ten. Eagerly, Clark logged on to the family computer. He was dismayed to find that Alex hadn’t logged on yet. What if he’d forgotten? Clark wondered if maybe he’d put too much stock in their relationship. No matter how well he thought he knew Alex, it didn’t really mean anything. He didn’t really know him. Besides, why would Alex care about some confused hick he met on the internet one time?

Doubts were piling up, and Clark was just about to log off in the embarrassment of assuming that he was actually going to show, when a chime on the computer let him know that Alexbbs2 had signed on.

He slouched in relief. /See how foolish you were being? / He thought to himself. He really shouldn’t blow these things so out of proportion.

*You have received a message from Alexbbs2. Would you like to accept it? * Clark clicked ‘okay.’

Alexbbs2: Hey alienboy.

alienboy13: hi alex. i almost thought u wouldn’t show.

Alexbbs2: Are you kidding? I told you I’d be here, so here I am.

Alexbbs2: So, have you reached a decision?

alienboy13: um, kinda? i talked 2 the girl i liked today, and it was weird, cuz i didn’t feel anything, u know?

Alexbbs2: Yeah, I think I understand. Been there, my friend.

alienboy13: really? what did u do?

Alexbbs2: Well, for starters, I stopped pretending that I had a crush on a girl I didn’t.

alienboy13: hey! it’s not my fault. u don’t know what it’s like to be gay and living in a small town.

Alexbbs2: You’d be surprised.

alienboy13: what does that mean?

Alexbbs2: Nothing important. So, you’ve decided you don’t actually like this girl. Now what? Do you have a crush on a guy?

alienboy13: um, i think so. but i’m not sure. it might be more than that. he’s an older guy, a friend of mine. i’m afraid that if i talk to him about it, he’ll freak out. i don’t know, but i’m pretty sure he’s straight. he’s had several girlfriends since i’ve known him.

Alexbbs2: How do you know? He could just be trying to keep up with an image.

alienboy13: u sound like u know.

Alexbbs2: Because I’ve done it myself. Especially since I’ve developed...feelings for a boy who’s only fifteen.

alienboy13: what? who?

Alexbbs2: I don’t even know why I’m telling you this. I don’t usually talk to people like this, but you remind me of him.

alienboy13: what’s his name? i mean, his first name?

Alexbbs2: Clark. His name’s Clark. And he lives on a farm. He’s adopted, too. We have nothing in common, but somehow, we just click. God, I sound like such a romantic.

“Oh my god.” Clark gasped and stopped typing. It was Lex. Alex was Lex. Not only that, but he had a crush on him, Clark Kent. He didn’t even stop to contemplate the weirdness of it all, being talked to in confidence by Lex about his crush on him. It was just too weird, way more than any of the meteor mutants.

Alexbbs2: Alienboy? You there?

alienboy13: um, yeah, sorry about that. look, i’ve gotta go. it’s getting late, and i’ve got school tomorrow.

Alexbbs2: Alright. Do you want to talk again?

alienboy13: sure. tomorrow at ten again?

Alexbbs2: Fine.

*Alexbbs2 has logged off*

Long after he’d turned off the computer, Clark sat at the chair, staring at the blank screen. Wow. Lex had a crush on him. Wow.

At first he’d thought that it would make things that much simpler. He could tell Lex how he felt without worrying about being ditched. But upon thinking about it, he decided that it really wasn’t that much easier at all. He was still only fifteen. His dad still hated Lex. Lex was still a guy. And he was still lying to Lex on a regular basis. If anything, knowing Lex’s feelings only made things more complicated.

***

The following afternoon, the phone rang. Without thinking, Clark picked it up.

“Hello?”

“Hi Clark.” It was Lex. Clark covered the receiver for a moment, taking time to breathe. It was okay. He could deal with this.

“Oh, hey Lex. What’s up?” Clark was nervous. He only hoped that Lex didn’t call him on his avoidance.

“Clark, I’m getting the feeling that you’ve been avoiding me.” Well, it was too late for that. Clark shifted uncomfortably.

“I don’t know what you mean. I mean, I’ve been a little busy this week, because of this big project I’m doing for school, but I haven’t been avoiding you.”

“Are you sure? Because if I’ve done something wrong, I’d like to know about it.”

“No!” Clark shook his head to punctuate the statement, even though Lex couldn’t see him. “It’s just school, I swear. But Lex, why would I be avoiding you?” It struck Clark that he’d gotten amazingly good at lying to his best friend. He’d only even told Pete after he had hard evidence that would be impossible to lie his way out of. He wondered exactly what it would take for Lex to find out his secret.

“I don’t know.” Lex seemed sort of deflated. Tired. Like maybe he was doubting himself. Clark wished he could talk to him in person. Maybe comfort him, at least a little. “Listen, Clark, I was calling because I got you some tickets to the football game. I was thinking that you could take Lana.”

It took Clark a few seconds to answer. He knew Lex had a crush on him. So why was he pushing him at Lana? It made no sense. Actually, it did make sense, but only in the weird, insecure kind of twisted Lex Luthor logic. Lex thought that by pushing Clark and Lana together he was being a good friend and destroying any chance he could have with Clark. And come to think of it, Clark wondered when he’d started being able to read Lex so very well.

“Umm, actually, that’s okay. I really don’t think I like Lana that way anymore.”

Clark waited for Lex’s answer. When it came, it sounded rather confused. “Chloe then. You can take Chloe. I’ll even lend you the limo.”

“No, Lex, not Chloe either. You should keep the tickets. Maybe take someone you care about.”

Clark got the impression that Lex really didn’t know what to say. And that he was trying to avoid sounding like he didn’t understand by waiting until he did. Well, he would have a pretty long wait, since at the moment he was way off target.

“Alright, Clark. Well, I’ll talk to you later. Let me know if you change your mind and you do want those tickets.”

“Sure, Lex. Bye.” Clark hung up the phone. Well, that wasn’t so bad. He didn’t do or say anything stupid, he didn’t blurt out ‘I love you’ and he didn’t make an ass out of himself.

But then why did he feel so horrible for leaving Lex in the dark?

***

“Lana. Gotta focus on Lana.” Clark whispered to himself. The night air would’ve been chilly to a normal person, but Clark didn’t notice. He wore the jacket only to disguise his perfect comfort. His breath came in plumes of steam.

He was on his way to the Talon. He had decided to give Lana another go. Sort of like a last-ditch attempt at being straight, not to mention sorting out the entire mess that he would have to deal with if this didn’t pan out.

There weren’t many customers at this time of night. Clark supposed that it was either the small population or the fact that it was icy out there. He sat down and made a show of warming his hands.

Despite the few customers, it took Lana a while to get to him. He didn’t mind too much, because it gave him a chance to plan out exactly what he was going to say, and how he should feel.

“Hey, Clark. What can I get you?” Lana wiped her hands on her green apron and got out her little pad. She probably didn’t need it, but Clark was glad. It meant he had more of a chance at getting what he actually wanted.

“Um, cappuccino?” Clark grinned hopefully. But he didn’t feel like he thought he should. Lana’s pretty face was just that; a pretty face. If there was something special about her, he couldn’t see it.

She turned to go, but then stopped. A small furrow appeared between sculpted eyebrows. “Clark, did you know that Whitney and I broke up?”

/Well, yeah. You already told me. What do you want now, sympathy or my offer of a date?/ Clark blinked at his own rather caustic thoughts.

“Yeah, I know.” He dredged up sympathy and caring. He should be feeling sorry for her. Lana was his friend, and she’d just broken up with someone. Come to think of it, if there was anyone he should be comforting, it should be Whitney. “You okay?”

She nodded slowly. “Yeah, I think so. But I was wondering...do you want to go somewhere? Like, the movies?”

Clark nearly choked. It was only through countless hours of studying Lex’s business face that he was able to stay composed. Lana Lang was asking him on a date. The most popular girl in school not only liked him, but liked him enough to ask him on a date. And the worst thing? He didn’t even want to go with her.

Clark glanced at his watch. /Yep, it’s official. 8:27, and I, Clark Jerome Kent, Earth’s resident alien, am officially gay. This is just perfect./

“Um, you know what, Lana? I think I have to go now. I forgot that I didn’t do some of my homework.”

Lana frowned for a moment, like she wasn’t going to buy it, but then perked up. “Well, if you’re sure that you have to go....”

“Yeah, yeah I’m sure.” Clark started backing towards the door clumsily. “Wish I could stay, but you know, my dad and chores...”

“I thought you said you had homework to do.”

“Well, yeah and that too. Sorry I couldn’t stay and chat. I’ll talk to you tomorrow at school. Bye!” And he was out the door.

***

Clark knew he should feel bad about running out on Lana, but he couldn’t. He was just glad he got away before any more blood was shed. He’d barely gotten away with their friendship intact.

He started reaching for the phone, and then pulled his hand back. He had been going to call Lex and talk to him about the Lana situation. But now, knowing what he knew, he wasn’t sure he could talk to Lex about that. /Lex likes me. How am I supposed to talk to him about my female crush? Or my male one, for that matter?/

Life sucked for a teenage, gay alien.

***

It was 10:15, and Lex was still on the computer, waiting for alienboy13 to show. He clicked on random sites, hoping to distract himself from the fact that the clock was ticking and he had still not logged on. Maybe he had forgotten. After all, Lex was just an older bisexual guy who was helping him out with sexuality issues. Maybe he’d worked through them and didn’t need Lex anymore.

He fought the urge to heave a sigh. Luthors didn’t sigh dramatically like he wanted to do. And they didn’t fall prey to such self-pity issues. Lex knew that he should consider himself lucky. He didn’t have to worry about the cold, or where his next meal was coming from. If there was a price tag on it, he could buy it, and even if there wasn’t, he could probably buy it. But the old adage was true. You couldn’t buy happiness. Or love, for that matter. He’d seen the coldness in the eyes of those he’d slept with, and he’d seen the same indifference in his father’s own eyes. He was property. An heir raised and trained solely for the purpose of continuing the Luthor tradition of tyranny and shady business practices. And to one day raise a greedy, ruthless heir of his own. His lot in life had been cast before he was even born.

/I sound so pathetic. Poor little rich boy. Nobody loves you./ Lex sneered at himself, unwilling to let his barriers down even now, at night, when there was no one but the shadows to see his weakness.

***

Clark stared intensely at the wooden grain on the floor of the barn. His brow was crinkled in concentration as he tried to decipher the secrets of his life in a simple pattern of dark ticks in the wood. At the very least, focusing on the microscopic world of the floor of the loft kept him from seeing the big picture, with all its problems.

Like, what was he going to tell Lex? Could he possibly meet and talk with Alex after learning who he was?

Speaking of which, he glanced at his watch. He blinked several times at the digitalized numbers, before blowing out of the barn and into the house in a blur of colored wind. The numbers on his watch were still the same: 10:30.

***

Lex wondered when exactly, he’d jumped off the wagon of reason. It was ten-thirty, and he didn’t expect alienboy to show. But he stayed online, telling himself that he was just surfing the web, for no reason other than personal pleasure. When in reality he was waiting for a person who had obviously already forgotten of his existence. /Take away the name, and nobody cares./

alienboy13: alex? u there?

Lex smiled, half in relief. Inside, he knew that he shouldn’t be so happy about this, shouldn’t be begging for attention like some stray dog, but he really didn’t care. alienboy didn’t know that he’d been waiting for him, and it would stay that way. Lex promised himself that he’d be more aloof. He couldn’t leave himself open like this.

Alexbbs2: Yeah. I’m here. Where were you?

alienboy13: i was thinking. about a friend of mine.

Alexbbs2: Yeah? What were you thinking?

alienboy13: i was thinking that i’m in love w/him.

Alexbbs2: So you’ve decided that you’re definitely gay. Tell me, who is this crush of yours?

alienboy13: well, i think i told u that he’s older than me. he’s rich, but once u get 2 know him, he’s fascinating. it takes him a while to open up, but he’s beautiful inside and outside. i really think i’m in love with him, not just a crush. he’s so beautiful.

Alexbbs2: Wow. Sounds like quite a guy. What’s his name?

alienboy13: Lex Luthor

Lex froze. He hadn’t known he’d acquired another stalker. Apparently, someone who....wait. ‘alienboy13’ had a crush on a girl. He’d mentioned Lex being older than him. And he’d insinuated knowing him. Come to think of it, he talked a lot like....But it couldn’t be. Clark wasn’t...he wouldn’t...What were the odds that it was Clark?

alienboy13: lex? it’s me. Clark.

Well, there was that one in a million chance, which this time, seemed to be correct.

Alexbbs2: Clark? Is that really you?

alienboy13: yeah.

Alexbbs2: How did you know who I was? And did you really mean all those things you said?

Lex’s eyes widened, the only outward sign of the hope that was building within him. Clark...it was Clark who had talked to him about all those things. Clark had visited Lana and felt nothing. Clark was late because he was thinking about him. Clark thought he was in love with him.

alienboy13: i figured it out when u told me about your crush on me. and yeah, i really meant all those things i said about u.

Lex stilled for a moment.

Alexbbs2: I know it’s late, but do you think you could come over? I don’t think I can have this conversation over the internet.

The only thing that slowed Clark was the length of time it took for the computer to shut down. Then he was off, whipping through cornfields, his tough skin not even feeling the lashing it was getting from the cornstalks.

He was outside the castle in about three minutes. He forced himself to wait. He wasn’t sure that he was ready to reveal that secret yet. Someday, but not now, as much as he’d like to.

He had about ten minutes to kill, so he busied himself by spying on the castle. He’d done it before, on occasion. He justified it as checking on Lex to make sure that he wasn’t in trouble. God only knew which meteor mutant could be his last.

He scanned the various rooms, searching for any sign of life. He encountered the usual empty rooms with sheets over antiquated furniture, but he finally came to Lex’s study. The bald billionaire’s son was still sitting at his computer. Clark wondered briefly if he should have responded to the last message. Lex looked like he was still waiting for Clark to message him back.

Finally, he felt that it was time to go in. He self-consciously straightened his clothing, somehow worried that he didn’t look good enough. He had to remind himself again and again that this wasn’t something new. Lex was Lex, not Lex Luthor.

He rang the doorbell timorously, almost afraid that someone would hear him. But Lex’s manservant answered the door immediately. Clark wondered if he ever slept.

But that wasn’t the issue right now. He slowly made his way through the corridors. They seemed bigger and longer in the dark. The artificial light served to confuse him, and he worried that he’d get lost in the castle. He’d been to Lex’s study many times, but for the first time he was confused, and not quite sure which corridor to take.

His fears were in vain, though, because he reached the study without getting lost. Lex was still sitting at his computer, and Clark knew him well enough to see the surprise in his eyes when he entered.

“Clark.” He seemed much more composed now. Clark wondered if that was a bad thing as he chewed his lower lip.

“Hey Lex. I, um...well, I’m here.” Clark ducked his head and blushed. Somehow, it had been easier to talk to Lex when he hadn’t been facing him.

They stayed silent for a moment, each studying the other’s facial expressions and body posturing. Finally, Clark spoke. “So, um, did you really mean what you said? About... about loving me?” His voice was quiet, and hard to hear if you weren’t listening for it.

“Yeah,” Lex said, just as softly. And realizing that he was supposed to be the one in control here. Not only was it his given role, but it was what Clark expected of him. He stood up, flipping his laptop down out of habit.

Despite the lights, the room seemed dark. The same, but different. Like Clark was seeing it from the other side of the mirror.

He didn’t know what to expect when Lex got up. The cards were all on the table. Oh, wait.... “Lex. I---I love you too.”

Lex lifted his arm, paused, and then placed his palm against the side of Clark’s face. His skin was soft and smooth, not a trace of stubble. Too young. He shouldn’t be doing this. There were a thousand reasons, none of which he could grasp. But what sense of morality he had left commanded him to step back.

It felt like moving through sand, but he did it. One step, and then another. His hand dropped limply to the side. “Lex?” Clark whispered softly. “Where...what are you doing?”

Lex had been shaking his head slowly. “No, Clark.”

“No what?” Clark said around the growing lump in his throat. Something was wrong, he just knew it. Had to play dumb, because he couldn’t be the one who suggested the obvious.

“We can’t do this, Clark.”

“Why not?”

And Lex now needed, more than ever, those reasons to become tangible. He had to make Clark see that he was dangerous, that Clark was too young to know what he wanted. That he couldn’t possibly want Lex. Couldn’t.

And oh shit, he’d been talking out loud. No wonder his father thought him incapable. He’d just spilled his heart out. And now he was left with a hollow, empty feeling, knowing that any second it would be trampled on, and that he would be left to bleed out all over the floor.

But while Lex was still waiting for the pain that would come where only Novocain-like numbness resided now, Clark had put the pieces together. “Lex. I love you. And you can’t tell me that I don’t. Or that I’m too young to understand. I know perfectly what that means, and I know what I’m feeling. If you can’t accept that, then it’s your problem.”

Lex seemed somehow smaller to Clark. Almost like he’d hunched in on himself. Trying to be smaller, and less noticeable, which honestly, he wasn’t very good at. It was the exact opposite of the image he usually projected, and even now, he couldn’t quite shake the after-image he gave of power and intelligence.

Instead of pulling Lex toward himself, Clark practically pounced on him. Pushed his body against Lex’s and knocked him back a few steps, before the backs of his knees hit the desk.

Clark’s hands were steady and warm on his ass, and Lex was torn between wanting to push into them, and wanting to push into Clark. The hot warmth of his mouth descended a second later, nibbling at Lex’s lower lip, tongue flicking out to feel the texture of the scar on the upper lip. Lex had imagined their first kiss hundreds of different ways, fast, slow, passionate, sweet, hungry, cautious. But the reality was an indefinite mix of everything. Sweet lips and hot tongue, warm mouth. Big hands, big cock pressed into his thigh.

Lex wound his hands through the dark hair that he’d wanted to touch for so long. Silky and crisp. A moan escaped his lips. One of his hands crept lower, to Clark’s neck, and then to his absurdly muscular back. The other reluctantly left his hair and crept towards his face.

Despite the sweet closeness, Lex found it necessary to breathe. When he pulled away, his lips felt bruised, but at the same time, he yearned for more. His cock was hard in his pants and his shirt was rumpled. He imagined his kiss-swollen lips, reddened with passion, and wished he had a mirror.

“Clark...I...what are we....” A finger descended on his mouth, and pressed to his lips, signaling him to be quiet.

“Don’t question, Lex. Just go with it.” Lex opened his mouth and took the single digit into it. Teased it with his talented tongue. He found it strange that Clark had taken charge. He was still a virgin. Lex should be the one leading in this, but he wasn’t sure what to do, besides the obvious. He felt like a virgin himself, nervous and worried.

He could still remember his first time. He had been fourteen. Clark was only a year older than he was, and yet twice as naive about the world.

After what seemed like eternity, Clark pulled himself away from the mesmerizing sight of Lex sucking on his finger. “Bedroom?” he asked in a husky voice that surprised even him. Even more surprising was the fact that he had no qualms about this. He’d always thought he’d know when the time was right, but he’d never imagined he’d be this sure or confident about losing his virginity.

In retrospect, he thought maybe it was to compensate for Lex being so unsure and nervous about taking his virginity. “Follow me.” Clark had never heard anything about the walk to the bedroom being sexy, but somehow, it was. The sight of Lex’s bare head in front of him, ghostly in the moonlight of dimly lit halls, made him ache with want. He could almost hear the blood rushing away from his other body parts and collecting in his cock.

When they entered the lavish bedroom, Clark had to remind himself to keep his mouth closed. The huge, four-poster bed was covered in a rich, purple bedspread. Clark wondered if it would feel as soft as Lex’s skin.

“Um...wow.” Clark felt himself reverting to his shy self, and thought that maybe that was okay. This was his first time; he wasn’t supposed to be in control. Besides, Lex looked a little more sure of himself.

Clark’s hands clenched into fists as Lex dropped to his knees in front of him. Instinctively, he knew what was coming, and his cock twitched in anticipation.

Hands, feather light against worn jeans, carefully undid the single button and slid the zipper down with a tell-tale rasp. Jeans pooled at his feet, and he stepped out of them with Lex’s urging. He suddenly found himself in strictly unexplored territory, and it struck him that he had no idea what he was doing.

Fortunately, Lex did. The boxers followed the jeans, and Clark stood, half-naked, before his love. Taking a the hint, he pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it into some unknown corner of the vast bedroom.

Now he was completely exposed, and Lex was staring in fascination at his erect cock. Clark shifted a little, becoming uncomfortable. Finally, Lex looked up and met his eyes. “Can I?” he asked.

Clark nodded his head. “Um...I...I’ve never done this before...and...oh GOD!” Lex’s coral pink lips had wrapped themselves around the tip of his cock. The slight pressure and tickling sensation had him panting and struggling not to embarrass himself by coming instantly. Slowly, delicately, Lex took more of him into his mouth. The tip of his tongue touched the slit, and Clark’s hands spasmed, clenching into fists as he came in hot, salty jets.

Mortified, he was afraid to look at Lex. A pretty red blush spread up his face. /He is so beautiful./ Lex thought. He swallowed Clark’s come, and licked his lips free of any drops he might have missed, desperate not to let any escape.

A satisfied smile crept across his face. From the looks of things, he’d done a pretty good job. And it helped to restore his confidence further. “Clark,” he said, urging the teen to look at him. The green eyes finally met his, and Lex thought he could read surprise there. About what, he couldn’t tell.

Clark couldn’t believe it. Lex seemed, if anything, satisfied that he’d come in his mouth. “Is it...is it okay?” he asked, ashamed of himself and his unruly body.

Lex stood, and tilted his chin up, so that he was looking at him straight on. “Clark. That was wonderful. I hadn’t expected anything more. In fact,” he said, licking his lips, “you taste quite good.”

Clark blushed harder. But his hands cradled Lex’s skull as he pulled him in for a wet kiss. He was a little shocked to taste his own flavor on Lex’s tongue, tangy and with Lex’s own flavor beneath it. The mixture was amazing, and Clark pressed closer, trying to get as much as possible.

Lex’s eyes widened before falling shut blissfully. This was the way it should be. Clark’s mouth all he could taste, sex all he could smell, Clark’s body the only thing he could feel.

He didn’t even know they were moving until the backs of his knees hit the bed. He fell backwards, and Clark’s warm, muscular body pinned him beneath him. Their mouths still locked, Clark’s fierce as though he was trying to climb inside of Lex, or maybe to devour him whole. Either way, Lex would’ve been happy.

There was the sound of ripping fabric as Lex lost one of his multiple purple dress shirts. He felt Clark’s mouth trailing down his jaw line, and then his throat. His head fell to one side and it took him a moment to catch his breath.

Clark was working his way down the pale, sinewy body. He stopped when he came to Lex’s darkened and hardened nipples. Fascinated, he took one into his mouth, worrying it lightly with his teeth. Lex arched up off the bed, his still-clothed lower body coming up flush against Clark. Clark smiled, and then moved to the other nipple, continuing to fondle the first one with one of his big and strangely un-calloused hands.

“Oh, God....Clark....” His hips bucked helplessly, and Lex caught a flash of white teeth before he focused on Clark’s hands, which were busily undoing his belt. His cock was throbbing in want, to the point where it was nearly painful. Lex clutched at the bedspread, willing himself not to grab Clark’s head and hold him as he thrust up into his mouth. It just wouldn’t be a good idea.

He arched his back, this time in eagerness to be rid of his constricting dress pants. Clark slipped them, somewhat clumsily, off of him. But what he lacked in grace he made up for in eagerness and sheer want.

Clark froze at the sight of Lex’s fully erect cock, flushed with blood and the tip beaded with copious amounts of pre-come. “Wow,” he breathed, his passion cooling in his awe.

Lex closed his eyes. He didn’t want to see the look of surprise on Clark’s face, nor the look of disgust it would soon turn into. The meteors hadn’t taken only the hair on his head. Neither of them moved.

Finally, Lex opened his eyes. Clark was still staring at him, in a way that made him all the more hard. But it wasn’t the look of shock or distaste that he’d been expecting. Sheer awe was painted on his love’s face. Nothing more and nothing less.

“Clark...” he choked out harshly. He stopped, because he wasn’t even sure what he had been going to say.

Clark looked up at him, his eyes glistening and bright. “Lex...you’re so beautiful...”

Lex laughed harshly, his erection still clamoring for attention. “That’s not what most people say.”

“Lex. You’re not a freak. You’re gorgeous just the way you are, and I love you.” And before Lex could respond, Clark’s mouth was around his cock.

“Oh my god!” he gasped out. He couldn’t breathe. All his feeling was focused on the one area of his body that was being engulfed by Clark’s heavenly mouth doing sinful things.

Again, what Clark lacked in skill, he made up for in enthusiasm. His head was bobbing between Lex’s thighs, and Lex couldn’t think straight. But he knew one thing.

When Lex came, it caught him by surprise. Slow and steady, but entirely unstoppable, his orgasm rolled into him, causing him to tense up, and then cry out in surprise. He shuddered deeply as he spilled his seed into Clark’s mouth, unable to care if it was what Clark wanted.

When it was over, he fell limp against the covers. His eyes were closed, and his body was entirely boneless. He didn’t even react when he felt Clark lift him up and slide him under the covers. “Shh, Lex. It’s late. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Lex’s eyes stayed closed even when he heard Clark dressing. Even if it was just temporary, he didn’t want to see Clark walking out on him. Somehow, he’d always pictured waking up in Clark’s arms after their first time. But now, it was entirely impractical, and dangerous, besides. He’d sacrifice that creature comfort if it meant not waking up with a shotgun pressed to his temple, especially since it would be held by Jonathan Kent.

His eyes stayed closed even when he felt Clark’s lips press against his forehead. “I love you, Lex.”

He opened his eyes. “I love you too, Clark.” But the room was already empty.
