With this combination of musicians, Raw Redeem has developed a
unique style of performance on stage that no other band has done. Also, they have
developed a unique rhythm pattern in the bouyon music which other bands can only hope to
produce.
The Band is well known for its prominent front men Derrick
Rah Peters formally of the WCK Band pioneers of the Bouyon Music and Rohan
Rohi Williams formally of the First Serenade Band. Rah is responsible for
writing most of the songs on WCKs first twelve albums. Rohi is well known for his
colourful and energetic performances on stage.
Raw Redeem has recorded two (2) Albums. The first was Me-nous-la
released in November 2000 and the second is Gimme Little Bouyon which was released
in August 2001.
The band has performed in Antigua in 2000, Guadeloupe, Marie
Galante, St. Lucia and locally on the Carnival Band Splash in 2001, a performance which is
still being talked about.
Raw Redeem has done two (2) Carnival T-Shirt Bands. In 2000, it did
Kubuli T-Shirt Band. In 2001, the band formed part of the Street Parade in Portsmouth on
Carnival Monday where the band played from Jour Ouvert. On Carnival Tuesday Raw Redeem
played in Roseau with the "Redeem Family" T-Shirt Band, which Raw Redeem
organised under a lot of pressure, using a sound system from St. Lucia and with limited
resources, financially and otherwise. However, it was well appreciated and successful.
The Band can boast that it has accomplished more than any other
newly formed band in its setting has ever done. This can be attributed to its blend of
youthful talent and mature experience.Raw Redeem plans to maintain Bouyon Music by helping
other local and international artists and bands to produce and record bouyon music and
expose it to the different international markets. |
