This page is meant mainly for family and friends, but in case anyone else happens to stumble upon it, here is a little introduction. My name is Raymond Crooke. I have one wife, Yoong, and two children, Dylan and Kit. Well, they used to be children! I am a semi-retired teacher of Mathematics and English (including ESL/EFL). I live in Australia, the land of Vegemite and kangaroos, perhaps the only country in the universe whose national song is about a sheep-stealer and whose favourite historical figure was a murderous bushranger. The country is currently prospering under the inspired leadership of the charismatic John Howard. After teaching in Australia for 25 years, I abandoned my children and went with my wife to Singapore, where I taught in a government Secondary School for six years and then in Brunei Darussalam where I taught the descendants of head-hunters for over two years. I have been working on and off at Monash University English Language Centre and am about to embark on one more overseas posting (in Hong Kong) before settling into real retirement as opposed to this pretend retirement.
