About Me
    I am the proud son (one of six children [all boys] with a twin brother, Roy) of an Italian immigrant father and and English/Irish/Indian mother.  My father came to the USA from Italy in 1909 to work in the coal mines of southeastern Oklahoma.  Although a teacher most of my working life, I also labored in the coal mines and oil fields before I realized that an education would liberate me from hard physical labor. 
     My teaching career began in a city near Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1954, and ended in 1998 in Kentucky.  During those years, I was fortunate enough to have taught in Oklahoma, California, Turkey, Germany, England, Illinois, and Kentucky.  While teaching at Southern Illinois University in 1984, I began offering pre- and post-conference tours for people from the USA who were attending ISBE Conferences.  Since then, I have offered the following tours:
