UNIT TWELVE: HEALTH ISSUES: DRUGS AND HUMAN DISEASE

 

 

Introduction

 

            Hepatitis, HIV, Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria, Cancer, Influenza, etc. are common topics of human disease in the media today.  In this unit, students will examine the etiology and transmission of human disease. Students will explore present intervention and prevention for the representative diseases covered in class.

           

Drugs and alcohol continue to be prevalent among the adolescent age group. In this unit, students will study the effects of both alcohol and drugs on the human body.  Beyond the physical effects, they will examine the social, intellectual, and emotional impact of these substances..
