            Day 7
            Case History: This
is a hypothetical case. Airbag deployment. A 57 year old male
rear ended another car at 37mph. In the ensuing impact, the
patient's airbag deployed. He noticed pain, photophobia and poor
vision in this eye after 1 day which did not change on presentation
            on the 5th day.
1 week later this eye still
has an IOP of 49 and grade 4 flare and grade 1 cells. Meds:
Atropine, CoSopt, Alphagan P, Xalatan, PF1%. Vision is still HM at

            Questions: What
has happened to the iris in Day 1? Why did the intraocular pressue
            increase so dramatically?
            Dr. Hom's comment The
air bag deployment created sufficient blunt force to the globe that
the iris tore from its root. In addition, this cause iridocyclitis.
In my opinion, it was the iridocyclitis which had prompted the
patient's visit to the ER rather than the original blunt force. The
patient was lost to follow up.
