Grand Rounds 75
FBS, itchiness, and redness x 3 months

Case History:
This is a 56-year old woman who presents with a 3 month history of foreign body sensation, itchiness and redenss. There is no photophobia or mucopurulent discharge. She is afebrile, with BP, pulse and  respiration rates being normal for her age. Her medical history is non-contributory except for a cataract extraction done 3 months ago in this same eye. According to the surgeon, this patient's best vision post operatively was 20/30+ which I confirmed today by refraction.

Intraocular pressures, anterior chamber, irides and posteror examination were unremarkable.
On the sclera of the affected eye, there are sutures that are buried with one protruding.

Questions:
1. Is this protruding suture sufficient to cause the symptoms and signs?
2. How would you manage this patient?
