What
Dr. Hom said About Grand Rounds Case #87 |
 Case:
This elderly gentleman presented with a 1 or more year history
of watery and burning eyes of constant nature. There is no report of
photophobia or discharge. Question:
-
What
is the probable cause of the watery eyes?
-
How
would you manage this?
Response: The
palpebral bags are directly related to the patients' symptoms. A
mechanical ectropion is even evident. With just this presentation,
though, i would be hard pressed to recommend corrective surgery.
Corneal staining, intense redness or chronic blepharitis would
probably make surgical intervention a stronger case.
