New Date and time set for massive LAN
Wednesday, July 17, 2002 - Hedgehog

Whether your sick of date ping-pong like I am or not, that's up to you.

RCTNow and ACSlan have agreed on August 17th for a joint LAN party. Capacity will be at about 70 people, but we are trying to get some generators for th ability to fit about 120. The new event has been dubbed Twisted Metal 2k2. After all, this is a Johnstown LAN party...we made steel...metal...okay? Good.

We will have a rest area set up this time, with a bunch of oldschool games as well as a couple new ones. A couple of movies will probably be there too, but don't expect to see anything special. Oh, and thanks to our sound system...loud music too. If you want to hear something during the party, let me know and send me an MP3...I'll put it in the mix. This time, there will also be servers...tons of them. Quake 3, Half Life: CS, and a JK2, one as well.

If we get anywhere near the turnout the two of us want to, I have a feeling we will have much more food and soda as well.
If you have any questions, E-Mail either the folks at ACSlan or us right here at lanman850@yahoo.com, but so far, here's the details:

-$5 registration, just like always
-Jackson Township Firehall, Aug 17th, 4pm-???
-Soda and food will be there

And remember, you'd better register if you think you're interested. People are already contacting me about the LAN all the way from Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Albany. Besides, if you decide to show up and you didn't register, or register 20 minutes before the party, you're going to have to have a good reason :P

Where do you register for the party, might you ask? Well, a good place to start would be.....right over there
<---------------
Yeah. That'll work good. Or if you want to register with ACSlan, that's okay too. Just so one of our organizations knows that you are coming, it'll all be good.

Oh, and one more thing......since this is a definite thing, and we are both going to try our best to bring the biggest LAN party ever to the area, I suggest you join our forums. All the cool kids do it :|

RE: RCTNow and June 8th
Sunday, June 9, 2002 - Hedgehog

RCTNow 2 was cancelled during the week of June 8th due to lack of interest. Our next party will be held on July 27th. A lot of people are complaining because they came to the firehall on June 8th, only to be greeted by closed doors. As you were told when we founded this LAN club, if you register at the last minute, that could happen. We _need_ to know how many people will be there and when. It doesn't help when you sign up 2 days before an event, people. Deal :P

Once again, we're clearing the slate for July 27th, unless ACSLan, our ally in Johnstown, has an event planned for that weekend. Check their site out Here. 40 seats will be available this time, and the cover charge is a five dollar bill. Register early, join the forums, make it to the event, kill some stuff, come back. And maybe we can pull this off :)

RCTNow represents Ebensburg/Mineral Point in a multi-state LAN party?
Wednesday, May 8, 2002 - Hedgehog

For those of you that don't know yet, I've been trying to bring a large-scale LAN party to our area for quite some time now. I'm in talks with several local clubs to create a huge (read: 200+ memebers) party in the area. Head on over to the forums and tell me what you think! If this happens, I'm going to collect an extra $2 at the next LAN party for anyone who wants an RCTNow T-shirt. That way, we'll look like a team, too.

ACSlan was this weekend.
Sunday, April 21, 2002 - Hedgehog

A group of our team showed up at ACSlan over the weekend. There were a few familiar faces there, and we got to meet a lot of LAN go'ers that weren't at our last event. The party started at 6PM and lasted well into the morning. A few gamers decided to play GTA, but a lot of people were playing JK II: Jedi Outcast. A Quake 3 tournament was held later on, with some nice prizes. All in all, it was great fun, and I suggest that the rest of RCTNow check it out next time. The LAN's web site can be found here: www.acslan.org
We are going to start the push for RCTNow 2 on the first of May, in case you are wondering why there hasn't been much activity here. I am still trying to recover from the last event :)

A news update, if that's what you want to call it!
Monday. April 1, 2002 - Hedgehog
If anyone hasn't noticed, signups are ready for the June 1st tournament. I know that it is a long way off, but I am really going to push for a full house this time. We need it, as we still don't have any funds in the club treasury, and we need to purchase some badly-needed networking equipment. A full house, from what I figure, is probably about 40 people. Any more, and in an ironic twist, the firehouse may catch fire. The next events details are:

- It's still $5 registration, and it will be that until further notice.
- We will be holding a Q3A DM tournament this time.
- One prize, instead of several small ones.
- 4:00pm-10:00pm again
- We will be regulating the food and soda next time, instead of self service. If you want to bring your own food and soda, go right ahead :)
- Instead of seating yourself, you will be assigned a seat number and given our games survey.
- I probably won't need to go to the hospital the day after the tournament.

As always, your comments are appreciated. If you haven't joined our forums yet, you should do it right now. Your questions will get answered even faster there, and you'll have the chance to meet some of the people who've seen the chaos caused by me. I hope everyone had a nice Holiday weekend, and is prepared to go back to work and school :)
