RCTV FACTS, FIGURES AND HISTORY |
RCTV had it's humble beginnings in the 11th Century BC - actually that's a BIG FAT LIE! |
RCTV hit the airwaves of Central Florida in the Fall of 2000. The show was originally Directed by then RCT Instructor/Director Jennifer Patty and her brother Scott. |
RCTV is now directed by RCT Director/Instuctor Jeremy Baker. The TV show is actually run as a class at Riverside Children's Theatre. Students learn to run all the video equipment and learn about acting for the camera. The whole class serves as actors and production crew for each episode. |
The idea behind RCTV is to show kids that ART is everywhere around them, not just on walls, pedestals, or even on a stage. "All you have to do is keep your eyes open to the possiblities..." |
On RCTV's Art Of Sound An animation of Andrea DeCrescenzo's head was used to show how foley sound effects work. It took 340 individual pictures to create the 36 second amination. |
Riverside Children's Theatre also offers a classes in screenwriting, editing and animation. Students in each of these classes help develop all the elements that go into each show! |
An average episode of RCTV takes over two weeks to complete. We shoot approximately 4 - 6 hours of video tape for each show. Video editing takes roughly 1 hour per minute of finished video. |
For the episode titled DANGER ART RCTV director Jeremy Baker put on a 40 pound padded suit and was knocked to the ground by a police attack dog. The 60 pound dog was running approx. 30 mph an hour when it leapt onto Jeremy. (if this is what we do to directors, you can imagine what the show's hosts go through!) |
RCTV is now shown in a 2 county area in Central Florida. In Indian River County on WWCI, In St. Lucie County on Channel 13 We hope to be adding lots more stations in the future. Including the fabulous ITV school channel in Palm Beach County! |
