So now, we have identified the final person mentioned in Psalm 83. We see in the group that there is intelligence, cunning, strength, proficiency in the use of weapons, wealth, shared bitterness towards Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob. Each one also had heard many times the recital of the Shem family lore from Adam all the way down to their parents. They also had heard the Ham or Japheth spin on the lore from their in-laws ( in Hagar's case from her parents ). In their bitterness, they probably accepted the non Shem versions as representing a version closer to the truth. One thing is certain. A person who feels that they have been greatly wronged, generally becomes extremely vocal about it. I am sure that to be uprooted into exile would create some extreme vocalization. I have no difficulty in seeing these stories in one form or another being repeated world wide in one form or another after enough generations had passed. After hearing a story enough times, it becomes ingrained, and the 'truth' of the story is accepted as factual. A fact, that tempers a persons every day performance. Of these, two are fairly worldwide in acceptance, one that man was expelled from paradise, and two that there was a devastating flood. I believe more of the story came across the generations than is generally recognized. The hatred and distrust of Isaac and Jacob, what they and their descendents stood for, was ingrained in the Greeks and Romans, through the passing down of this lore, by way of the Hittites through what is now Turkey. Even though it may not have been cognitive, it was there. Also, universal in each, was a much higher self interest, than that shown by the trichotomous side. Self interest was the prime motivator in each action taken by them. In the chapters on Socrates, Plato, Aristotle and others we will see hints 88 ________________________________________________________________________________ to this ingrained lore, along with the universal dichotomous traits. Through this analysis, possibly, we can better understand the European occupations of the people of Israel. Since Alexander the Great was Aristotle's student, we should be able to make the correlation between philosophy and military action. It is also just a step to the Romans, who picked up Greek philosophy. At the end then we should better understand dichotomous versus trichotomous, their similarities and dissimilarities. 89 _______________________________________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________________________________ |
