My research interests include sustainable agricultural techniques such as organic farming. My previous experience was in agricultural research at the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute (CARDI).
Between 1989 and 1992, I functioned as an entomologist/ environmental chemist on a project in the Yallahs River Watershed which investigated the crop protection chemicals used in coffee production and the residues present in the rivers of the Yallahs River Watershed.
Between 1992 and 1997 I was an entomologist on a IFAD/GOJ funded project which assessed the effect of coffee production practices on the incidence and severity of arthropod pests and diseases in selected farms in the Blue Mountains and between 2000 and 2001 I was responsible for the application of Geographic Information Systems to the Biological Control of the Coffee Berry Borer project.
In addition to the above I have attended training courses in soil conservation and hillside management and am currently a director of the Jamaica Organic Agriculture Movement. I am also a member of the Jamaican Society of Agricultural Scientists and the Caribbean Food Crops Society.
