After completing the four preceding tasks, you are feeling pretty confident about getting this job. You will be able to appear thoughtful and well-read on the topic during your interview. But first you need to impress them with your portfolio, so you will create a culminating collage, using the materials from this webquest to accurately illustrate what you have learned. You must include images and at least 8 quotes from the resources you utilized in Tasks 1, 2, 3 and 4. A quote from each task material must be included (in other words, the words cannot all be taken from the same article or audio clip). Feel free to use other images as well - from newspapers, magazines or your own artwork. The collage must contain a quote from Reading Lolita in Tehran that relates to the resources you have been working with. Review the rubric for this portfolio HERE. This project is due May 14. |
TASK FIVE: |
TASK SIX: |
Your Written Piece de Resistance Compare the poem, A Handful of Mud, on the opening page of the webquest, with the chapter of Reading Lolita in Tehran. Using both works, as well as the supplemental materials we have used, establish a thesis about life in modern-day Iran. Include your agreement or disagreement with the following quote: "Nafisi simply can't resist paradox, so although she writes about a society in which a woman can be jailed for dancing, punished for allowing a few strands of hair to fall on her face, disciplined for revealing her singing voice, or expelled from a university for the way she might eat a peach, she also tempts Western readers to marvel at the power this atavistic Iranian regime implicitly assigns to women's sexual allure." Examine the language and imagery used by both authors. What is the tone of each work? How do the language and imagery contribute to the overall tone and theme of the works? A close reading of both works is necessary to do this task well. The more detail and explicit proof from the works that you include, the better your grade will be. Review your guidelines here. Look over this rubric to understand how you will be evaluated. This project is due May 17. |
