Back Issue #1

November 1, 2002  Vol. 1 No. 1

READY4ANYTHING is an e-mail publication with the goal
of helping us to keep our eyes on Jesus and to be
ready for anything, anywhere, whereever He leads us.
The title is based on a story told by Keith
Daniel at Youth Bible School 2002 in Loveland, CO. He
said that when he went to Bible seminary as a young
man he asked the school what kind of degree he would
get when he was done. They told him the R.F.A. He says
"I've heard of Ph.D and B.A., but what's R.F.A.?" They
told him, "Ready For Anything."
This magazine is intended for those who are
serious about their walk with God and are willing to
do what it takes to follow Him. If for some reason you
no longer want to receive this magazine or you have
friends you think will appreciate it, drop me a note.
Lord willing, this will come out bi-weekly.
However, as a general rule I am limited in the amount
of time I can spend as I usually have to use the
computer at the local library, which is open only two
days a week. If anyone who knows computers would like
to help with R4A please drop me a note with your phone
number and I will give you a call with the password
information and the like.
If you have anything you would like to submit
please do so. I would like to see testimonies, quotes,
spiritual helps, prayer & praise items, poetry, and
anything else you think would encourage and bless
others.
God bless your day! Jamie Scharf

Following is a short correspondence and "Let Me Never
Forget"--something which I heard once and I have never
forgotten

Greetings in Jesus' name. I am writing to find out
if I can have a copy of "Let Me Never Forget," the
one you read at YBS 2001. I have to admit it really
touched me. Sometimes I get pretty lonely but when
I'm the lonlinest God is there. Reckon He works that
way for a reason.

Greetings in Jesus' Name!
May God bless you.  I know what it is like to face
very lonely times, but SEARCH for His everlasting
promises in the Word and CLING to them!  If they
fail for you, you will be the first in history.
However, "there are no 'if's' in God's World."

"Lord, sometimes the battle is intense.  The devil
tempts me to reject You and to follow him once
again.
"But, lest I turn aside, let me never forget what
You have done on my behalf.
"Let me never forget the many days and nights of
fear and loneliness; though earthly friends were
numerous and I tried to fill my aching void with
various things.
"Let me never forget how each sin stung my
conscience the first time I did it.
"Let me never forget the agony my lifestyle caused
those who care for me.
"Let me never forget the many times I failed to do
right, although I gave all my strength for it.
"Let me never forget the day I turned to You and
wept all my cares into Your loving shoulder.
"Let me never forget the remorse I felt when I
repented of each sin that weighed me down; and how
ugly each one looked as You let me see it from Your
perspective.
"Let me never forget the tears you cried and the
blood You sweated for me in Gethsemane.
"Let me never forget the stripes you bore, the
crown of thorns you wore and the shame You endured-
for
me.
"Let me never forget that You hung on the cross
for
someone as unworthy as I.
"Let me never forget that You have conquered all
the power of death--past, present and future.
"Let me never forget the redemption and
forgiveness
You have granted me.
"Let me never forget the joy and inward freedom I
have experienced.
"Let me never forget that You rose from the dead
and are alive today, interceding for me and granting
me
daily strength to overcome evil and to walk close to
You.
"Let me never forget the daily victories You have
granted me and the countless prayers You have
answered.  Help me to rely on You and ever renew my
faith in these truths that are You.
"And Lord, should the fire burn low and the
memories fade and the devil tempt often and long:
increase in glory before my eyes, be exalted before me
and renew that Godly perspective within me.
"And one day, Lord, may the world see nothing but
You radiating through every part of my life.
But, Jesus, let me never forget."

YOUTH AND TRUTH

I saw a youth go forth one day,
Who met with Truth along the way.
Said Truth to Youth, "Come, go with me,
I'll make you noble as can be;
I'll lead you far from ev'ry wrong,
And build you up and make you strong
For God and His eternal cause,
And keep you true to nature's laws."

Said youth to Truth, "I'll go with you,
And trust your strength to take me through
This world of sin, with ev'ry test,
Because I want to do my best
To live for God and all that's right,
And be a burning, shining light,
So when my race on earth is run,
I'll hear my Master say, 'Well done.'"

I saw the youth begin to climb,
And rise in life to things sublime;
His aims were high, his purpose good,
He used his time as each one should;
He formed no habits bad and vile,
Though others said, "He's out of style,"
He proved himself a noble youth
As on and on he followed Truth.

He lived a life upright and clean,
And shunned the low and vile and mean.
He did not steal, he did not lie,
Nor serve the devil on the sly.
His face was bright, his eyes were clear,
As on he journeyed year by year,
Along the road that leads to God,
Which blessed saintly men have trod.

In after years I saw this youth,
Whose strength and leader still was Truth,
Come up to grand and hoary age,
Like some blest patriarch or sage.
And looking back across the past,
He said, "I'm nearing home at last."
Then soon he went to meet the Lord,
And to receive his rich reward.

Although he did not reach a throne
And cause a monument of stone
To be erected in his name,
To long perpetuate his fame,
His sons and daughters call him great,
And strive his good to emulate,
While hundreds live for God today
Because he led them in this way.

MEMORY VERSES
    Always could use suggestions!

Matt. 5:3-16 (whole chapter would be good,
actually)
    Rom. 6:14, 23
    Phil. 3:13

PRAYER REQUESTS AND PRAISE ITEMS

Open to any and all, whether it's big or little. For a
starter, I ask prayer that God would bless R4A and use
it for His honor and glory, because if He doesn't, it
won't do a bit of good.
And naturally I'm thanking God that He saved my
soul through the blood of Jesus. That's something I'll
always be thankful for, and I'm sure many of you are,
too. Have you let God know how grateful you are?

And something to make you smile:

A Christian mentioned to his friend that he did the
Lord's work on Sundays. His friend jokingly asked how
the pay was. "Not much," the Christian said, "but you
sure can't beat the retirement plan."

And that wraps up the first issue of Ready4Anything.
Thanks for taking time out to read it and I hope you
got a blessing!
