Back Issue #20

July 25, 2003   V1N20
Hi! Due to a change in the library schedule, R4A will probably start coming out Wednesday instead of Friday. Following something a friend sent me (via snail mail) a while back...
8 Tips for Christian Living
1. BE HUMBLE, rather than being wise in your own eyes. Pride is evidence of ignorance. Acknowledge the fact that you need and want God's guidance. That's true wisdom.
2. BE TRUTHFUL. Tell God exactly how you feel about the situation or decision at hand. He already knows your heart's desires. He already knows your willingness or unwillingness to submit to His will. But tell Him everything, anyway! Admitting your feelings aloud will help you.
3. BE WISE. Read the Bible to find direction. God will never ask you to do anything that contradicts His word. Ask God for wisdom.
4. BE OPEN. Discuss your problem or question with someone older and wiser than yourself. If your parents are Christians, you should first place your confidence in them by sharing openly.
5. BE WATCHFUL. God opens and closes doors in marvelous ways. Don't hammer down a door God has shut. And don't just stand and stare at a door God has opened. Watch for opportunities God may send your way. If you already have your mind made up on the way God is going to guide you, you likely won't see the green lights and open doors when He leads in a way different from what you expected or hoped.
6. BE CAUTIOUS. Don't make big decisions quickly. When you are confused and not sure of what to do about a given matter, don't move ahead into it. Wait for the inner assurance that you are in God's will. God's time is often slower than man's--or so it seems. Don't get impatient.
7. BE PRAYERFUL. Ask God to direct your path and be able to truthfully say, "Not my will, but Thine be done." Keep on praying! "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
8. BE PURE, in purpose and in living. God hears and answers the righteous man. Don't have any undercover motives. You cannot fool God. He knows whether you really want His guidance for His glory or your own.

Life
You learn to live, you learn to love, you learn to lose--and live;
You learn to hold on, you learn to let go, you learn to let go of pain;
You learn to laugh, you learn to receive, you learn to cry--and give;
You learn that clouds may hide the sky--and that the sun will shine again.

You learn God holds you in His hands, He knows your hurt and grief;
You learn He knows He's doing best, He holds the stars in His hand;
You learn His love, His pain, His tears, His blood--for your relief;
You learn to watch as the day dawns--and know you will rise again.

To everyone out there who has lost someone.

Verse of the Week
Here is a verse that I think is such a wonderful promise.
     "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Rom. 8:38, 39. Prayer & Praise
I just want to thank God for the personal revival He's given me in my personal life. And for the rain we've gotten twice in the past week (most of you know that in California rain in summer is very rare!). Ain't He good!

A Bible store in a small town was trying to sell more Bibles. They would send various people out to street corners and to homes but only one person was having any success selling Bibles. What was strange was that he stuttered. They knew that he  wouldn't be able to give a very good "salesman" speech but he kept selling Bibles when no one else had any luck.
     So they followed him one day. He stood at a street corner and when the first person walked by, he said, "D-d-d-do you want a B-b-bible? If you d-d-don't want to read-d-d it I c-c-can read-d-d it to you. 'In the b-b-beginning...'"

Next issue I will try to print the survey results. Those of you that haven't sent yours in yet, please do so by 10 AM August 4, Monday. Thanks.
