| Back Issue #23 September 3, 2003 V1N23 Hi! Following is a powerful little article... Evangelism: Such a Short Time So he said to him, "Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?" And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, "Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." --Matthew 22:12-13 ...we have such a short time to prepare for such a long time. By that I mean we have now to prepare for then. We have an hour to prepare for eternity. To fail to prepare is an act of moral folly. For anyone to have a day given to prepare, it is an act of inexcusable folly to let anything hinder that preparation. If we find ourselves in a spiritual rut, nothing in the world should hinder us. Nothing in this world is worth it. If we believe in eternity, if we believe in God, if we believe in the eternal existence of the soul, then there is nothing important enough to cause us to commit such an act of moral folly. Failing to get ready in time for eternity, and failing to get ready now for the great then that lies out yonder, is a trap in plain sight. There is an odd saying in the Old Testament, "How useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds" (Proverbs 1:17). When the man of God wrote that, he gave the birds a little credit. It would be silly for a bird watching me set the trap to conveniently fly down and get into it. Yet there are people doing that all the time. People who have to live for eternity fall into that trap set for them in plain sight. "And Lord, I have the message that will enable them to prepare. Give me a willingness--no a passion--to do my part in this urgent matter. Amen." I read of a man who stood to speak At the funeral of a friend, He referred to the dates on her/his/ tombstone, From beginning to the end. He noted first her/ his date of birth, And spoke the following date with tears. But he said what mattered most Was the dash between those years? For the dash represents all the time That she/he spent alone on earth And now only those who loved her/him, Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own; The cars, the house the cash, What matters most is how we live and love, And how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard. Are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left, That can still be rearranged. If we could slow down just enough, To consider what is real, And always try and understand, The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, And show appreciation more, And love the people in our lives Like we’ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect And more often wear a smile Remember that this special dash, Might only last a while. So when your eulogy’s being read, With life’s actions to rehash Would you be proud of things that they say? About how you spent your dash? ~submitted by Julie Clark mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Verse of the Week Greetings in our Risen Savior's name! I hope this finds you doing well in the Lord! Here is something I thought would be good for us all to think about: "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid, How shall we, that are dead to sin live any longer therein?" ~Romans 6:1-2 This is a passage that really sticks in my mind! Shall we continue to sin? No!!!!!! Let's strive for that perfection Christ tells us about in His Word! Let's pray up, the battle is raging!!! It is so real! Souls are slipping into eternity- are we telling them of the Savior that came to Earth, who died, paying the price for our sin? Are we seizing every opportunity to tell people that he rose again, and that He is coming back for those that have repented, and received the gift of salvation? Are we? May we be true soldiers in God's Army! May we not be weary for in due time we shall see the Commander! Oh how glorious that will be! Hallelujah! ~Micala Muncy nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Prayer & Praise Brothers and sisters in the Lord, I MUST share with you of the greatness of my King! This week I had to take two really major music exams, which I've been preparing for now for the last two and a half years. I had the flu for a week beforehand, just when I needed to be reinforcing and memorising stuff. I was certain that I was doomed to failure, but God truly won through and blessed me with an exam paper filled with questions I was confident in! Truly He is an amazing God and I have such peace about this exam now, though I won't know the result for another 8 to 12 weeks. I feel like I have learnt something so much more important than music--that God cares for such things even as our exams, and that truly, 'our times are in His hands.' Bless you all! ~Danielle C., NSW Australia And my personal praise to the Almighty, who has amply supplied me with material for this issue! ~Jamie Scharf VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV Word Study by AprilRose Pilgrim My brethen, count it all joy when ye fall into diverse temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith workieth patience. After telling the salesman which truck he wanted, they sat down to do the paperwork. The salesman handed the rancher the bill, and the rancher declared, "This isn't the price I saw!" The salesman went on to tell the old rancher how he was getting extras such as power brakes, power windows, special tires etc. and that was what took the price up. The rancher needed the truck badly, paid the price and went home. A few months later, the salesman called up the rancher and said," My son is in 4-H and he needs a cow for a project. Do you have any cows for sale?" The rancher said, "Yes, I have a few cows, and I would sell for $500.00 apiece. Come look at them and take your pick." The salesman said he and his son would be right out. After spending a few hours in the field checking out all the rancher's cows, the two decided on one and the salesman proceeded to write out a check for $500.00. The rancher said " Now, wait a minute, that's not the final price of the cow. You're getting extras with it and you have to pay for the extras, too." " What extras?" asked the salesman.
