Manhattan

2000

I'm dilapidated and I am surely hated

Because I'm not as cool as you

But I am trying real hard to table my cards

What is a man supposed to do

Oh lord won't you tell me what to do

Because I'm not as big as you

And this thing has got me so confused

I'm dilapidated in someone else's shoes

I was walking on a street when I saw a

An old man with a bottle in his hands

He said have you got a quarter my life ain't getting shorter

And I have come to take a stand

He said poor people are the society's nirvana

But I didn't understand what he meant

He sounded drunk of porter so I tossed him the quarter

And then all of my money was spent

Oh lord won't you tell me what to do

Because I'm not as big as you

And this thing has got me so confused

I'm dilapidated in someone else's shoes

I went to a pub then sat down at table ten

And I ordered me a beer

She asked me for the money I said now ain't that funny

She said if you can't pay don't stay here

I wandered cold and hungry cuz I had no money

And I couldn't afford a ride on a plane

I saw the old man just then he said good to see you again

Have you got any more spare change

I said I'm cold and hungry but I ain't got no money

And I can certainly understand

He said then take a seat and get off of your feet

And we'll discuss the perfect land

Where there's no cold or lonely and the rich are the only

Poor and homeless on the street

That's my stand my friend we could rise up again

But then we may have defeat

Oh lord won't you tell me what to do

Because I'm not as big as you

And this thing has got me so confused

I'm dilapidated in someone else's shoes
