In the sun

Shining bright

The light was in your eyes

On the run

Thought I might

Try to soothe your sighs

The wind was in your hair

Longing glance changed to loving stare

And when I looked to where you sat

I saw you wearing my hat

In your breath

I could hear

The world of thoughts you had

In the death

Of your fear

I held you when you were sad

The world looked on in awe

You never understood what I saw

And when I told you that

You'd laugh and put on my hat

In your arms

Warm and soft

I saw nothing but you

In your charms

High in loft

Our love was expressed true

You were more than a friend

I never thought that it would end

That's why I could see

You and my hat were for me

In your heart

Full of fear

The thoughts began to come

Fell apart

Out of clear

We were no longer one

It pains me even still

It ended against our will

Now all I can see is that

And memories of you wearing my hat
