Nostalgia

Ahh, the memories…

MECHWARRIOR 2

I remember playing this game with my friends online almost constantly. We all became addicted to it and played the game so much it was insanity. We got involved with clans and stuff on Mplayer and we had rankings and all that good stuff. We'd war with people from other clans and it would get kinda serious, like we were in real battles in a real war. Everyone was into it. Then Gamespy Arcade bought Mplayer and disbanded Mechwarrior 2 and completely messed up a great thing.

Sifl & Olly

You can ask anyone you want, and most people won't remember the Sifl & Olly show. This show was aired on MTV for two seasons. It was about sock puppets who hosted a television show, and it had such features as Letters To Chester (their incredibly moronic and seemingly stoned friend) and fake television ads from Precious Roy for products like home safety kits with things like poison grass, cobblestone mines, and sulfuric acid water sprinkler systems. My friends and I used to be nearly obsessed with this show and we watched it almost religiously. They're supposedly coming out with season DVDs soon, and when they do, I'm definitely going to buy them.

Orbitz

Orbitz was boasted as a "New Age" beverage that essentially used the interesting characteristic of floating gelatin balls to make sales. Most of it tasted terrible, and most people would agree that the floating balls made the drink nearly impossible to enjoy, but I must say that I enjoyed a couple of them, particularly the Black Currant Berry. Clearly Canadian stopped manufacturing Orbits about a year after they started selling it, but my friends and I still remember drinking it. I even looked all over and found an unopened case of it on Ebay just so I could have some. Sure, it's a couple years old, but all the bottles are unopened and I haven't gone blind yet, so who's complaining?

 Hidden Treasures Cereal

My friends and I remember Hidden Treasures Cereal, the cereal from General Mills that lasted for a short time between 1993-1994. It boasted "Which one has the hidden treasure?" and each piece of cereal had a fruit center. Ah, I can still taste it…

Pepsi-Kona

Pepsi tried a short run on the East Coast of their new taste. They called it Pepsi-Kona and it was supposed to be a delightful blend of half-cola half-coffee. It was very sweet and highly carbonated, but I loved it just the same. It's a shame it didn't take off. My other friends also remember Crystal Pepsi, though I don't.

I searched high and low for something close to Pepsi-Kona, and the closest I could find was Jolt-Espresso. Jolt-Espresso is good stuff, don't get me wrong, and it's got like, 20 times the caffeine that Pepsi-Kona had, but it's still not quite the same. You can check out Jolt-Espresso at www.thinkgeek.com if you're interested.

The Centurions

The cartoon of the 1980's which was my personal favorite. It never received the popularity it probably deserved, but it was, nonetheless, a great show. The main characters has special suits which would attach all sorts of electronic gizmos beamed down from a space station hovering above the planet earth. My friends and I had the opening credits memorized word-for-word and I had seen most of the episodes.
