Plea
9/11/02
The world has turned but I’m still here
Although my friends all say there’s nothing to fear
Some tell me that heaven’s mine to take
But it seems that death’s a lie when all of life’s a fake
Oh how I have missed the days
Oh how I can count the ways
Oh how I have slipped and fell
Oh how I have lived through hell
The world it turns but leaves me behind
Though we don’t see it we are all half blind
Confucius said we all start with clean slate
But instead we’ve all turned to hate
The fat, the black, the queer, the Jew
They are all the same as you
Spend a day in some other shoes
Then see how you pick and choose
The world it turns, but here I am
Once again I’ve fallen away from them
Alone I stand on my own two feet
With my own thoughts echoing my own needs
The world is yours, the world is mine
How can we stop it from being blind
No more labels for you to call
We’re all human after all
We all want to rule the earth
Showing everyone what we’re worth
But before the world can turn
We’ve all got to stand against what’s wrong
