Rebuttal

April 1, 2003

Why does it seem that you know all, but then you only slip and fall

The only one you’re kidding is yourself

And tomorrow, it may seem, that last night was all a dream

You place failure towards the back of the shelf

But you are not Aristotle, you rarely have a good rebuttal

And you fool yourself a little more each day

You try to jump up from your bed, but fall over instead

You feel the way no words could ever say

Give up all you think you’ve learned, your thoughts are not thoughts returned

But instead, trifles that have fallen through the cracks

And when the anger in your heart seems to rip your soul apart

That’s the time you have to look at all the facts

When you come home cold and tired, feeling lonely, uninspired

Keep in mind you’ll always have me as a friend

And when you peer into the night, looking to end your fight

Realize that I will be there till the end
