Fav. films: Pulp Fiction, Punch Drunk Love, Igby Goes Down, Memento, Rear Window, Adaptation, Pi, Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Trainspotting, Fight Club, High Fidelity, Donnie Darko, Clerks, Chasing Amy, Grosse Pointe Blank, The Insider, etc. History of Music Manifestations: It all started many a year ago when Paul, a high school student, decided that he wanted to create a website to showcase his music reviews. Hence, Music Manifestations was born. Yeah, that's pretty much it. I set up the site on Geocities using what little knowledge of web design I had. My web skills are still very lacking (I was supposed to take a webmaster certification class, but the professor fell ill and which resulted in the class being cancelled for good.), but, hey, I want to get my reviews out there somehow, even if the site doesn't look the best and even if only 2-5 people end up seeing them. At first, the site featured reviews for mostly hip-hop artists (Dilated Peoples, Mos Def, Blackalicious, etc.), and a few reviews from people who sent in some of their work to be posted. Due to my crappy internet connection, I rarely updated the site, and thus, it was kind of put behind me as I was writing and handling the posting of reviews at http://www.undergroundhiphop.com in addition to moderating one of their message boards. In early 2002, I decided to scrap the old page and revamp the site (yes, I still have my old site's review page lying around; click here to check it out). I will now have more rock/indie rock/alt-rock/punk reviews included (I really like these genres, and I don't think they were really represented much on my old site) in addition to hip-hop, house, trip-hop, or whatever else comes along my way. In Aug. of 2002, I started college, and because the internet connection is wonderful, one can expect more updates and such. So, yeah, that's about it if you're interested. And yes, you are still allowed to send in reviews if you'd like. Paul still writes reviews for http://www.undergroundhiphop.com, but he decided to step down from his positions as moderator of the Hip-Hop Discussion Board and the person in charge of reviews. Paul also currently hosts an indie rock radio show on WNYU on Sunday mornings at 8 a.m. called Daydream Nation. |
