Space

IF you have a need for space between the two of us

I will understand

For what it is that joins us

Is what I can't demand

We were never joined

By more than what we share

And only two can share so much

If they truly care

It's my intent to bond, not bind

To touch, not grasp and hold

For to grip free spirits too tightly

Turns them bitter, lost, and cold

Though I may feel the need to touch

More and deeper than you do

I am more than willing

To grant your space to you

This is not a sacrifice

But to give your love some room

For to love is to give up space

To let your lover bloom

In the blossom of your new found self

I hope you come to see

That in your vast and broader space

There's still some room for me.
