W.I.S.H.
(Why I Speak Harshly or The Abomination)
When people first meet me
I often hear them say
That I am opinionated
In all I do or say
It's not my intention
To always force a point
For its counter-productive
And it leaves noses out of joint
Yet I will not be passive
And my voice will clearly shout
When ignorance and bigotry
Are running all about
Silence can be golden
And the true mark of the brave
But I will never hold my piece
To those who would enslave
Enslave me with their limits
From a long dead time
Conserving only their privilege
While pretending all is fine
Saying that the game's now fair
While ignoring every sign
Of inequity and injustice
Is enough to blow my mind
For me to sit in silence
While surrounded by this lie
Would be a betrayal of the those
Who have suffered and have died
You're Flags an abomination
The Bars and Stars you wave
It's the banner of the racist,
the coward, and the knave
It's the Antithesis of Old Glory
And no matter what you say
It carries a clear message
That doesn't go away
No way is it a heritage
Of which you can take pride
That's why the Klan wears hoods
While carrying it in stride
It's the banner of the Nazis
That you impassionedly embrace
And tell me it's not racist
While keeping a straight face
Or you talk about a heritage
Of a dead and unjust cause
You claim to believe in justice
And wonder why I won't pause
If you believe in freedom and justice
To prove it all you have to do
Is bury the Confederacy and all its symbols
And then we'll know it's true!
