Yesterday’s Love

he wept

tears flooding his world

while he sat

his mind finally sees

no longer will her succulent lips

long to touch his

no more will the perseverance

of her love

help heal the languish he feels

he wept

at the bum deal

the vindictive gods give

no more kisses laced honey sweet

no congratulation needed

when love decides to leave

and he wept

his heart morbid and unfeeling

as detachment of love’s siesta lost

painfully sets in

she soundly closed all doors

rejected his drive for conformity

and he walks

alone in the world

besieged by lust

for the woman he no longer holds

a rebel who has lost his cause

no affectionate strokes

to ease his now troubled soul

the well of tears finally dried

the crying voice stood silent once again

the façade of a smile no longer hurts his face

no one can misconstrue the depth of his pain

no one to survey the scars this torment brings

no silver lining

shines today

on a life once static

torn asunder

as she walks away
