Waiheke Island is only 35 minutes by ferry from Auckland across the beautiful Hauraki Gulf, but a million miles away in pace and beauty.  It is home to award winning vineyards, olive groves and pasture land.  The residential areas are in small village settings each with it's own character, and there is a slower pace of life than the city across the water.  Many Aucklanders have chosen to move to Waiheke and commute daily to the city - a half hour ferry ride being infinitely more enjoyable than an hour in nose to tail traffic.  It  is also a great place for a holiday or vacation and to relax and unwind.

Ferries leave regularly from downtown Auckland and cost approx $25 return for an adult.

Whakanewha Regional Park is the only regional park on the island, and it helps to have a car to get there, but buses do visit too.  The
Rideline website will have details of times.  Visiting when the tide is out will ensure you stay dry while retrieving the box!  To find the box, you need to head to the end of the beach, making sure you do not disturb any of the protected birds.  Note the vineyard that you can see on the hill from the park.  As you are walking along the beach you will notice some very large pine trees at the end.

Once you cross the running water at the end of the beach, walk along until you reach the second large pine.  Scramble up the hill to the right of the tree, and in a hollow, behind some pine cones you will be able to take away a memento of one of Waiheke Island's products.

If  the box needs attention in any way, please
email us.
