REINCARNATED

No. It's not gonna happen. Ten years ago things were different. Ten years ago things changed... I died ten years ago.
And so begins the story. So it will be, so it will die, and so it will live again...
REINCARNATION
"What are you, crazy?!" the commanding officer, and also best friend, Eve, yelled at Cain. The she sighed and her tone improved, "I know the mission was hard, but you're back now. Everything's okay."
"Everything's not okay," Cain replied from an at ease stance, "The mission was not hard, it was suicide. Everyone died. I just forced myself back... forced myself to live again."
Eve stared at her long time friend. Her golden hair was cut short, right below her chin. The uniform she wore expressed not only what side of this great war she was on, but what organization she worked for. Of course Cain's uniform also expressed that she was on the RWM (rights for women and men) side, and worked for the Catstophie organization. The only difference between their uniforms was the color, which symbolizes rank. Eve's was dark green for commanding officer and Cain's uniform was a navy blue for a soldier.
The war had four sides to it. There was the RWM, the PHP, the AntiBook, and the FGO. PHP stood for Perfect Human Plan, and was basically a remake of Hitler's old WWII scam, except they weren't going for no Jews and only blond hair blue eyed people. They were going for the healthy smarter people and didn't care about colors of skin, hair, eyes, or anything else. The AntiBook side was generally seeking to end most education and and all reading. They wanted everyone to understand each other by using symbolic writing and body language. The FGO stands for a Federal Government Only. Where there is a government who runs every single thing everybody does. The sides were almost paired up in fighting but all of them were fighting against the other three.
Cain was proud of her boyish name and style. Her parents were deeply disappointed when they found out they were going to have a girl and not a boy like they wanted. Since they knew Cain's mother could only survive to bear one child in her lifetime they decided to have the girl even if they didn't really want her. Cain's brown hair had a male's cut, and her green eyes had a spark of war in them, unlike most people who were fighting because they had to. She had led a life of neglect until the war started, and even joined the RWM earlier than most would allow, at the age of 15. Her every hate and fear went into her fighting, which made her one of the best soldiers ever. She wasn't ranked, because they needed her to be a soldier more than anything.
Eve started pacing around on the concrete floor, but never let her eye off of Cain. Cain just stayed clam and stared straight ahead at the wall in front of her. Her gaze didn't focus on anything, so she didn't really look at any of the plagues or medals on the wall. All of them were different than what she remembered, and that was probably because of her ten year absence to this world. Cain started remembering the day her parents found out she was going to fight in the war.

Cain was packing a few things in her small and broken room. Not many because she would hardly need anything since most of it would be provided for her at the base or camp she was stationed at.
Her mother walked into Cain's beaten up room and started screaming at Cain, "Where do you think you're going, you dirt bag?! Do you think your father and I would just let you run off? Who would do the chores around here?! You aren't going anywhere! Besides who would want a piece of scum like you?" Her mother laughed and looked as if she was about to spit in her only daughter's face.
"Read this." Cain said in a neutral tone of voice and handed a folded slip of paper to her mother, making sure not to look her in the eye. Her mother quickly unfolded it and glared at the paper, and looked at it unknowingly. Cain sighed, "My name is third in the second row. Just in case you don't remember my real name. It's an enrollment list for the RWM's Catstophie."
"Cain?! My little girl going to war?" Cain rolled her eyes at this sudden and most likely fake act of love, and went back to packing, "This is great!!" Cain's mother had a huge grin on her face and went out of the room so fast she dropped the sheet of paper. The sheet fell to the floor. Her mother went to go tell her father the news of Cain going to fight.
Cain walked over to the paper and snatched it off of the cold floor. She looked at it, and a tear came to her eye. Only because of this her parents were proud. Only because Cain Nobell was written third in the second row. She didn't really want to go to war and fight, but it was the only way out of the dump she was forced to call home. She needed out, and this was the only way, so she had done it, and her parents were proud.

"Cain, I know this has been hard on you. I mean everyone thought you were dead. All this time... for ten years you were alone out there... ten whole years!!" Eve said, "We would have come for you earlier, but we thought everyone was dead. I have to say I am glad you survived, you are very brave.... after all it was ten years..."
"I was dead! I killed myself. It was my mission, and I obeyed my command. I was a good little girl and I followed my orders. It just happened to be that those orders were suicide." Cain said back getting annoyed. No one she talked to believed her, and no one was really listening to what she was saying. They all thought she was crazy when she explained her story.
"Just relax. Get some sleep. Tomorrow we'll talk." Eve smiled.
"Why not now?" For the first time since the beginning of this conversation Cain looked Eve straight in the eyes. Eve looked away hurriedly.
Finally Eve raised her voice and looked up at Cain, "Because this is ridiculous! Just get some sleep, even some rest would do you good. Okay?" She paused half expecting Cain to acknowledge what she said, when nothing happened, Eve spoke up again, "That's an order, Cain!!" Eve walked quickly out of the room avoiding having to talk to Cain any more.
Cain walked over to the solitary window in the small room. She thought of many things, including the war that was going on, and her last station she was at, station 506. After she became alive again and found out how long she had been dead, she had talked to a civilian who had said the war was getting somewhat better. She talked to that person for at least an hour before Caption Riley found her sitting on the side of the weatherbeaten street.
The woman was short with graying hair. She had said in her raspy voice that her name was Ceita. The woman had a slight hunch to her back when she stood. By the sound of her rambling on, you could tell she was a one of the town's biggest gossips. Cain had no idea what town she was in at the time, but was later told it used to be a city. It had been bombed during Cain's absence, and Ceita probably just didn't want to talk about it. Cain also didn't have the heart to ask her where she was for fear of extensive questioning.

"The war is getting to an end?" Cain repeated to Ceita on the street. Ceita was filling her in on the happenings from the past ten years. They had been talking for a while.
"Yes, where have you been for so long? I see you are in uniform. Shouldn't you know this kind of stuff before I do?" The elderly woman looked questionably into Cain's eyes.
"Well, I have been... Let's just say I have been lost for about ten years. I need to know what's going on, and I would rather know it as soon as I can. Can't you just tell me what you know before anyone gets here?" Cain said.
"Hmm.. ten years, eh? Things turned over a little less than ten years ago. The PHP lost their will to fight, and by then had almost forgotten what they were fighting for. The AntiBook side dropped for no particular reason. Or at least that's what I think. Your co-workers could fill you in on that more than my old gossip tongue could. I do know that the war turned into more of a head to head combat between the FGO and RWM. No one is winning really, but both are easing down. I don't know for sure, but around here everyone says it's because of low morale," Ceita told her.
"The RWM? Backing down? I don't see how that could've come about. They've always been wanting to win, and never settle for less."
"Well, not backing down, really. They just are thinking about declaring peace with the FGO. The FGO agrees with them for the most part. I am sure that will happen unless someone comes up with another reason to fight. I think everyone is just getting tired of fighting."
"Okay, I understand. I guess this war has been going on for a long time. What ever happened to Station 506? Would you know about things like that?"
"That station!" the woman laughed, "You really have been gone, haven't you?"
"Yes, I have..." Cain said sadly wondering not only why the woman acted this way at that question but if there were any survivors, "All of my friends were there except for Eve. I was there, too."
"You were?!" Ceita's eyes widened in disbelief and astonishment, "You've got to be kidding me!" Cain shook her head no, "Well, then, you were the only survivor. They bombed that place years ago. I think it was ten years ago, which I believe was how long you were gone. It was right after they sealed everyone in. No one got out, because all of the door and windows were sealed shut. It was a perfect attack for the FGO, but the RWM's biggest mistake. They had terrible losses."
"Yeah, it was a mistake..." Cain said only now doubting it was.
By then a cheap military car came along the road. Cain noticed the insignia of Catstophie on the side of the vehicle. She walked out onto the road and flagged the car down. The man was shocked about seeing Cain. He was a tall guy with brown hair and brown eyes. Cain recognized him as Captain Riley. Without saying much he ushered her into the car and drove her directly to the base.

Cain walked over to her stiff cot and fell asleep in no time. Tomorrow would have to be a day of explaining. She only hoped it was other people doing the explaining.
Eve woke Cain up the next day and the first thing she said was, "Okay, Cain, now let's talk."
"Fine. I guess you want to know what happened, right?" Cain asked stretching as Eve sat down across the room.
"If that's what you want to tell me, then go ahead."
"No. It's not what I want to tell you. It's about what happened, and I want to know why." Cain's voice had an edge to it.
Eve sighed, "Well, go ahead... tell me what happened."
Cain remembered what had happened the last day she was alive the first time. She told Eve everything as she remembered it. Hoping that Eve would be able to explain something, if anything, or at least be able to tell the story to everyone else when they asked for it. That way she wouldn't have to say it a million times.

The many soldiers few officers arrived at the Station 506 in very good spirits. They all went to their assigned rooms and unpacked. Cain scouted around the place like she was ordered to do when they had arrived. When she got done making sure everything was in good condition, she went back to the front door. A messenger was standing there.
He was of a normal height. He was about 21 years old. He had blond curly hair, and deep blue eyes. He had a slight muscular build to him, but looked puny and childish for his age. This boy might have been standing there waiting for someone or something, but he took in the sight of the station, looking every which way. Even as he looked around he didn't seem to notice Cain there watching him, and wondering about what he was doing.
Cain cleared her throat and finally spoke up, "May I help you, sir?"
"Oh! Yes, I am looking for Soldier Nobell. I have an order for her, and am supposed to give it directly to her. I have strict orders to give it directly to her, and no one else."
"I am Cain Nobell." the messenger looked at her name badge and blushed.
"Oh, sorry," he blushed and handed her a slip of paper with the orders on it and turned to leave. He pushed on the doors. Nothing happened. The messenger boy looked distressed. He tried again this time leaning into it, but they just wouldn't budge.
Cain raised an eyebrow unbelievingly at the boy and said, "I'll get you some help."
She walked to her room stopping a fellow soldier on the way and explained about the messenger's troubles. The soldier laughed and went to help. Cain eased inside her room and plopped down on her cot. Then she carefully opened the orders...

Cain paused for a long time in her narrative. She didn't say anything, but just looked straight at Eve questionably and with a somewhat accusing stare. Eve spoke up uneasily, "What is it?"
"I didn't really understand the message then," Cain chose her words carefully, and looked to see Eve wasn't armed. Cain slowly took her pistol out of her side strap to retrieve the piece of paper that was laying under it. Cain held the pistol tight at her side, but didn't point it at anyone or have her finger near the trigger. Eve didn't notice the gun.
"Is that it? I mean, is that the list orders you were sent?" Cain nodded looking straight at Eve, as if to look into her soul, "Let me see it," Eve reached out to retrieve the paper, but Cain didn't offer it.
"No," Cain kept her eyes fixed on Eve's face.
Eve felt uneasy in her sitting position, and it showed, "That's an order, Cain!" Eve stood up, "You have to give it to me!" she shrieked knowing that good ol' Cain always followed orders. When Cain just glared at Eve and made no effort to give her the paper, she took a step towards Cain.
Cain raised her gun and pointed it straight at Eve from across the room. She calmly said, "You are so dead," She had tears of anger in her eyes, and she curled her finger loosely around the trigger.
"Whoa!" Eve backed away with her hands up indicating she had no weapon and wasn't going to fight, "What's going on? Have you totally lost it?!"
"Like I said, I didn't understand it then... but the only thing is, I understand it now." Cain pulled the trigger so easily, without any guilt what-so-ever, and the bullet went straight to Eve's chest. As if the fatal wound to Eve's heart wasn't enough, Cain shot her again through her skull.
Cain looked once more at the sheet of orders in her hand, and heard footsteps coming quickly down the hall. She pointed the gun at her own head. She had done what was necessary for this war. She had gotten rid of a traitor. But she had already died once and wasn't meant to come back. Cain wondered if killing Eve would help the cause for the RWM in the war. She couldn't live in this god-forsaken world again knowing what has happened. With the gun pointed at her head, she pulled the trigger once more. This time she wouldn't come back. Cain fell back onto the ground and a puddle of blood filled in around her head quickly. The slip of paper fell down right beside her.
It read:
506 is a must go. Suicide is necessary for a win in the war.
-E
Ten years ago Cain had thought it was for her to commit suicide. She didn't know why it would help the RWM for her to be dead, but she had followed orders, like always. Cain had thought "506 is a must go" meant that the station's mission must go on no matter what problems went on or persisted, not that it must go on to it's own death sentence. The entire station was sent to it's death from the beginning. The messenger must have gotten hold of the traitor's orders and given it to Cain because of her record of getting out of bad situations. They had sent it too late. What had bothered Cain the most was the "E" at the end. "E" was the short hand of Eve's signature, and no one else had dared to use it.
The three officers that had been coming down the hallway finally made it into the room. There was Mike Kneed, Rob Daile, and Luke Shun. They had rushed there as quickly as possible, because of the sound of gunshots. They all looked at the carcasses. Mike picked up the piece of paper laying near Cain. Rob took both Eve and Cain's pulses.
"What does it say?" Luke asked kneeling near Mike, while Rob looked at anything but the bodies.
"I dunno. It's already covered in their blood."
"Is there any way to tell what went on here?" Luke asked nervously.
"No. No way to tell."
