Kalin

She crouched in the dirt of a dirty traffic infested road. Her gray fur was turned rusty and stuck up in tufts everywhere with years of living on the streets. Kalin shivered in the freezing winter night. Her red and white belly fur was black with soot. Kalin was a shape shifter. Her true form was a gray fox. Her other was a thin human girl with a black tipped gray tail. Kalin trotted down the road on worn paws and inhaled the toxic fumes from the huge planet wide city. Kalin rummaged through some garbage cans and ate a week old cheese burger before climbing up a building wooden post to sleep. The city‘s many cars and trucks whizzed by the old house that Kalin was napping in. Then some yellow machines of strange shapes pulled into the yard and workers put up yellow tape. Kalin woke to a thud thud on the walls of her shelter. She peered out the window and witnessed a enormous black metal ball swung dangourously and Kalin held her breath as it crashed into her shelter leaving a gaping hole in the blue wall. Kalin raced to to exit paws flashing and ran out to the never ending pavement of the planet Corith. She raced through the streets and soon had wondered into unframilure territory. Kalin pricked her ears for the slightest noise and crept closer on her light vulpine paws. Her tail twitched as she picked up the sent of a dog. Her muscles tightened like springs as she crept nearer. Kalin Peered into the shadows and witness something nobody should see. The man was attempting to hold a huge dog back as it lunged viscously at him. Another man was standing over the dog and its victim with a grin that sent shivers down Kalin‘s spine. Kalin crouched down in the dirt shacking at the horrorable grin on the mans face as his dog tore into its victims body. Kalin darted away ears back tail stuck out straight behind her. She dreamed of the murder for many nights as she wandered aimlessly through he streets and alleys sleeping in dumpsters and cardboard boxes. Kalin was growing thinner and thinner with time and the ever declining population of rats and mice her main food source. One day she saw a dark shadow fly over her. She was in her humanoid form and appeared to be a thin girl with golden eyes and fox ears and a tail. she started to turn into a gray fox then run to, well anywhere but something stopped her from doing so. Then she was face to face with a blue fire lizard. He chirped and grabbed on to her shirt making it apparent that she was to come. Kalin turned fully humanoid again and followed the little flit wondering why she was trusting him. The blue fire lizard led her to a tall and beautiful women and landed on her shoulder. “I am looking for candidates for the cross flight hatching.” She said. Kalin just stared dumb struck. “I think you would be a good candidate.” The women said with a grin. Kalin asked “Can I leave this dump and go to a place with trees to climb? And maybe impress a dragon to be my friend forever?” The wise women nodded and smiled at Kalin‘s eagerness. Then, Kalin was on her way to the healing den to discover her future.

Kalin has impressed!

Kalin wached as canidates filed into the hot sands. Mounds of eggs waited to hacth and the mothers unearthed them. Kalin noticed other Coritens and was a mazed that they were foxes like her. She would meet them afterwards. The humming rumbled through her bones and she wached the first haclings crack their shells. None were for her. She saw pair after pair leave the sands and a scuffle with one canidate and then her attention was drawn to a beautifully marked red and white dragoness. Shibboleth’s hatchling shook out wings which were red at the tips and paler pink toward the body, the same as her feet and nose were. The tip of her tail was red, as well. A siamese-marked dragon. She looked around, ears flicking sand away from her head. Then she seemed to find a likely person to bond with. A small girl, with a grey-colored fox tail, Kalin.

You do not have to worry about those dreams any more. We will not see anything like that if you do not wish to! Kalin lept to the dragon, hugging her neck and feeling comfort when the wings and tail wrapped around her, “I believe you, Dhogakith.” They marched off the sand together. Dhogakith looked lovingly at Kalin. Kalin felt their minds truly melded together.

I'm soooo hungrey rider mine! I want somthing to eat!Dhogakith begged. Kalin nodded and feed her meat from the bowls given to her. Dhogakith devoured it greedaly.

I itch on my back Kalin, rider mine! Dhogakith said suddenly. Kalin smiled and took some oil and rubbed Dhogakith over as the hachling fell fast asleep. EMBED SRC="BetteDavisEyes.mid" AUTOSTART="TRUE" LOOP="TRUE" WIDTH="5" HEIGHT="5" >
