Rikki waited and waited for the hacthing to happen. But one day the call went out and he ran out to the sands along with 17 others. He watched untill all the dragons had impressed. None wanted him. But that same day the other clutch hatched. And a green and gold had layed their clutches. This clutch had due wings and even purple dragons! But yet again, none wanted him. He and the remaining canidates sulked. But a dragon hum started up AGAIN. And this time it was diffrent.
Rikki watched Zalin impress a green light, the first hatchling. As she pondered, a blue slipped free of his cream-colored prison. Rikki - tell her it'll be okay. She looks worried. The other fox-shifer blinked. Zalin... Esronth says it'll be okay..." It was a trifle odd, but wierder things had happened.
Rikki led his new blue dragon to were the green and blue riders were passing meat to the new dragonriders. Rikki looked at the wonderful blue Esronth with pride. Everything was so new now. The sun shown and Rikki could not belive that he had been blessed with Esronth, the only normal blue hatched that day. "See whats its like out here Esronth? Its wonderful and we get to live here." Rikki grabbed a bucket of meat. I love it rider. But I'm hungry, o so hungry. Rikki grabbed a pice of meat and persented it to Esronth who took it and gulped it down ravonisly. "Your very hungry, hey slow down you may choke! Chew like this." Rikki exercised his jaw to show Esronth. Esronth started to chew and soon the bucket was empty. Rider mine, am I the best dragon in the world? Esronth asked questioningly. "Of cource you are my blue wonder." Good, because I'm tired Rikki. I want to sleep. The blue's belly was bluging and looked up at Rikki. "Of course Esronth. This way!" Rikki led him to the weyrling berricks.
Esronth ploded along slowly. As he had only hatched a short while ago. Esronth walked up to his bunk and layed down with a contented sigh. In moments Esronth was asleep. Rikki paused, barely able to leave his wonderful, perfict blue before turning to go to the feasting. There he joined his friend Zalin, rider of light green Gesrith. They turned to the food and devoured all they could before going back to the berricks to spend their first night with their new life partners.
