ANIMALS ON GOR
Urt, leaf: a small tree-dwelling rodent, having 4 toes, which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi; tree sloth?

Urt, tree: a small tree-climbing rodent found in the rainforests inland of Schendi.

Ushindi: a tufted waterbird of the rainforests. It has long white feathers and long legs

Vart: blind, bat-like flying rodent, about the size of a small dog.

Vart, Brown: carnivorous animals that rest clinging upside down on branches.

Vart, jungle: a relative of the northern vart, it inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi.

Verminium bird: a bird with a beautiful song not otherwise described.

Verr: a mountain goat indigenous to the Voltai Mountains; wild, agile, ill-tempered, with long hair and spiraling horns; source of a form of wool; its meat can be eaten and milk can be used for drinking or the making of cheese and butter.

Vosk sorp: a giant clam that thrives in the seas and marshes of Gor, the shell of which is large enough to be used as a throne.

Vulo:
a tawny-colored poultry bird, similar to a pigeon, which also exists in the wild; used for meat and eggs, served roasted and spiced or baked in spice leaves.

Wader, ring-necked: a variety of waterbird which inhabits the rivers of the rainforests inland of Schendi.

Wader, yellow-legged:
a variety of waterbird which inhabits the rivers of the rainforests inland of Schendi.

Warbler: bird found in the level of the canopies of the rainforest.

Whales: there are several types of whales on Gor including the Karl whale, baleen whale, and the Hunjer whale, a rare toothed black whale.

Hunjer whale:
large black, toothed whale hunted by the Red Hunters.

Karl whale: four-fluked baleen whale hunted by the Red Hunters.

Wingfish: tiny blue salt-water fish with 4 poisonous spines on its dorsal fin; found in the waters off Port Kar; its liver is considered a delicacy in Turia.

Zad: a large, broad-winged, black and white bird with a long, narrow, yellowish, hooked beak, found in the Tahari; they scavenge on carrion; similar to the Urth vulture.

Zad, jungle: a cousin of the Tahari zad; found in the rainforest inland of Schendi.

Zadit: a small, tawny-feathered, sharp- billed bird of the Tahari; insectivorous, feeding on sand flies and other similar insects; they often land a kaiila and spend long periods hunting the sand flies that infest the host animal.

Zeder:
a small, sleen-like, carnivorous mammal which inhabits the rainforests inland of Schendi, esp. along the Ua River. the zeder grows to around 2' and weighs 8-10 lbs; it is diurnal, can swim very well, and builds a stick-and-mud nest in the branches of a tree, where it spends the night.
