The Bead Head Pheasant Tail Nymph
Hook - size 14 to 20
Tail   - Ring neck pheasant center tail barbs
Body - Ring neck pheasant center tail barb wrapped
Bead - 1/8 ounce copper gold or silver bead

This is a very easy fly to tie. Place the bead on the hook then lay down your thread base. Take  a ring neck pheasant center tail and cut 5 to 10 barbs. Tie in the tail about 1 to 1 & 1/2 the length of the hooks barb. Then wrap the rest of the barb around the hook to form the body.You may need to add additional barbs to get the body shape. To add legs to this fly just drop the end of the barbback on a 45 angle from the bead.

This fly is very effective on drop back Steel head. The best way to fish it with a fly rod is the across swing as shown in the picture below. I have also caught fish using this fly on the float rod
