| DOs and DON'Ts DON'T - rely on a jack when working under a vehicle. ALWAYS use aproved JACKSTANDS to suppor thew weight of the vehicle and place them under approved lift or support points on the car DON'T - attenpt to loosen extremely tight bolts such as lug nuts while the vehicle is on jacks. IT MAY FALL!!! DON'T - try to start the engine if the tranny isn't in park or neutral and the parking brake is set DON'T - EVER REMOVE THE RAD CAP WHILE ENGINE IS HOT!!!!! LET IT COOL OR COVER IT WITH A CLOTH AND GRADUALLY TURN TO RELIEVE PRESSURE DON'T - EVER TOUCH ANY PART OF THE EXHAUST OR RAD SYSTEM WHEN ENGNIE IS HOT!!! THIS WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS BURNS!!! DON'T - syphon fuilds such as gas, antifreeze, and brake fluid by mouth, or allow them to remain on your skin. DON'T - allow spilled oil or grease to remain on the floor - WIPE IT UP BEFORE SOMEONE SLIPS ON IT!!!! DON'T - inhale brake dust! it is made with asbestos and is potentally dangerous as a dust DON'T - use loose fitting wrenches or broken tools for any job! always pull the wrench towards you instead of pushing it away. If you must push the wrench use an open fist incase it slips. this way you won't have scrapped knuckles DON'T EVER LIFT TOO MUCH BY YOUR SELF! DON'T - allow children or animals around the car DON'T EVER USE A SHOP VAC TO CLEAN UP GAS OR ANY FLAMIBLE LIQUIDS! DO - wear eye protection DO - keep lose clothing away from moving parts DO - make sure the hoist is adiquate for the job DO - get someone to check on you periodically DO - work in a logical sequance and make sure everythign is correct in assembully and tightness DO - remember your vehciles safety not only affects you but everyone else on the road |
